I am wondering what you can tell me about pregnant dogs. Please don't tell me to research it on the internet. I already have. I know the basics and I have read and watched videos last night about it. I want to know personally first hand experience. I have a golden lab/ black lab cross. Her name is Kai and she will be 2 years old in April. This is her 3rd heat. She had been in heat for about a 2 weeks before she had been found stuck together with the male dog. She could possibly be pregnant up to 2 weeks right now. We do have a appointment with the vet this week to find out. What can you tell me about the delivery, and the pregnancy. My boyfriend has done this before but I haven't so it is all fresh to me. For bigger dogs like labs is there anything I need to watch for? How do I know if something is wrong? Will the dog want me around when she is in labor? What to do to revive a dead pup? I just want to know everything. Tell me your story and any hints or tips that I will need to know. Thanks a bunch!

When our dog had puppies, we really didn't have to do anything - the first litter she got nervous and had them in the backyard when it was really hot, and we lost one of the puppies (just keep a close eye on her - we didn't even know she was pregnant). With the other litters, we knew and she knew and would seek us out to have them. She delivered one puppy on top of my husband's head while we were sleeping.

You mostly need to just sit by and keep a watchful eye. I know we tried to intevene in a natural process once because it freaked us out but we learned it was okay. Also if the puppy gets stuck put some gloves on and try helping the mom out. I know it sounds nasty and thank goodness i have never had to do it, but i have heard vets tell people i know it helps prevent a loss.
