This morning I got a call from someone wanting money for dead plicemen's families. I explained as I always do , that I am strapped for cash and donate only through my church. He offered me a lower level and when I said "no" he yelled J----! Nobody cares any more!" It was at that point that I hung up. I wonder if he was really campaigning for money for these folks or if he just was trying to scam me. I am really sick of people calling and asking for money. I registered on the "do not call" list, but they say that these calls are different. Do you get these pesky calls? Has anyone ever got mad at you?

I like to give to charity but these days I prefer to give to known and reputable charity as there are many scams out there .I suspect that this guy was one, most trained charity workers would never loose their temper ,this guy sounds like he was more annoyed at not getting money for his selfish needs ,I think he is a little too passionate.A trained solicitor would have used tact and try to get a doantion by trying to find a "workaround' by either suggesting that you pay what you can pay and when you can pay and he wouldnt get angry.I totally support you one hundred persent for hanging up on this guy even if he is legitimate ,persons cannot be asking for money and being aggressive at the same tiem. The sad part is because of persons like this true charities may suffer.

I only had one like that and i didn't donate because i didn't have my own money at the time. It doesn't give them the right to be rude though.

We get those calls because some here have donated but we have never had someone swear at us for not wanting to donate money. Usually they just say OK and hang up. We try to be as nice as we can but you know how that goes some people just get so frustrated with that kind of job they just get so frustrated and can't handle it anymore.

Sounds like a scam to me, our Police Dept. tells us that they do NOT call for donations of any kind. You can always verify this by calling your local precinct and ask them if anyone make calls like this on their behalf, I'll bet they tell you no. That person had a lot of nerve swearing at you. If you have their number you should report them. Next time they call you should just slam the phone down on them.

yes everyone gets these calls. I heard that the particular caller for the police is actually a scam! Next time tell them you would only donate in person at your local police station if you ever have the extra cash to do so.
I was once called by a prisoner at a jail who pretended to be a police officer and told me that someone had me in their cell phone as a contact in case of emergency and I had to call a sergent at this particular number..well it just so happened that I read about this scam the day before..if I would have made that call the payphone in the jail all the charges would have been transferred to my phone and would be free for inmates to use. Why hasn't anyone done something to prevent such nonsense. It is almost as if the authorities want to sit back and laugh at stupid people who fall for these scam artists.

We never donate money through the phone either. I understand the importance of giving to charity but you never know who is really going to be using your credit card when they call. I guess if it was a real call he might have been genuinely frustrated, with the economy this bad probably nobody's giving money anymore.
