OK I really wanted to share this small piece of information to anyone who is going on a diet soon. The apple is great! I never new this, but the apple is an Appetite suppressent. I read that a few days ago, and began eating an apple for lunch, and it works. I ate an apple at 12:30 because I was getting a little hungry, and its 3:20 now, and I am still fine. I dont need to eat anything! One of the main reason people go on a diet, including the apple diet, is to lose weight safely. Eating three apples a day help you to lose weight because they help you feel fuller. That same medium size apple only contains approximately 80 calories and absolutely no fat and no cholesterol. The fiber in those apples helps you to feel fuller, and eat less at your meals. The sweetness in the apples helps to curb sugar cravings, so you don’t succumb to the brownie that is full of fat, non-fiber carbohydrates, and sugar. And apples don’t get smashed in your purse, backpack or pocket; they don’t spoil out of a refrigerator easily. They are a perfect portable snack. there are actually diets called "apple diet"~ http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/61541/the_apple_diet.html?page=1&cat=51

Hi jesss just add banana and apple togather and have nice smoothies or u can just have apple but that wont be that thick, and u have to drink it as early as possible otherwise it may turn orange, as heavy iron content wil react with air and get oxidised

This website has an article about 5 different foods that supress one's appetite. http://www.naturalnews.com/003550.html Also: Pine Nuts Pine nuts contain the highest amount of protein of any nut or seed. In Siberia, a handful of pine nuts are traditionally taken with a meal to create a feeling of fullness. *Flaxseeds Flaxseed oil is the best known plant source of omega-3 fats but raw flaxseeds are even better, especially for appetite control. In addition to the omega-3, one ounce of flaxseeds provides the added benefit of 8 grams of fiber. The more fiber you eat at any meal or snack, the slower the rise in your blood sugar, helping to keep the hunger hormones at bay. *Oatmeal Real oatmeal -- not instant -- is one of the healthiest carbohydrates. It's low on the glycemic load scale and has a high fiber content, so it enters your bloodstream slowly and keeps you full for a long time. One bowl of oatmeal consumed daily can reduce cholesterol 8 to 23 percent. *Salad If you want to avoid overeating, try eating a small salad before a meal. The fiber helps slow the entrance of glucose (sugar) into the bloodstream, making you less likely to be hungry. *Soup Soup is one of the best kept secrets to appetite control and weight loss. Research at Pennsylvania State University shows that men and women consuming two servings of low-calorie soup daily lost a whopping 50 percent more weight than those consuming the exact same number of calories with snack foods. *Drink Green Green drinks are becoming more popular and are now available premade in many grocery stores. The best ones are made with a mix of high-cholorophyll, detoxifying organic grasses like wheatgrass and vegetables (like spinach). *Whey Protein Powder (I keep this in my fridge, and add it to my oatmeal, and baked items) Whey protein powder can help you lose weight and build muscle. New studies suggest that whey may have an impact on food intake through its effect on hormones that influence a feeling of fullness. In one study, participants consumed a liquid meal consisting of either whey or casein and 90 minutes later were allowed to eat freely at a buffet table. The whey group consumed significantly less calories. *Umeboshi Plums Can't control your sweet tooth? In Eastern medicine, foods are regarded as having certain properties and a craving for one kind can best be treated by eating its opposite taste. Umeboshi plums -- basically pickled plums -- are the ultimate in "contractive" foods. The founder of the Natural Gourmet Institute for Healing and Culinary Arts, Dr. Annemarie Colbin, recommends them highly for sugar cravings. They are widely available at specialty stores and Asian grocers. Need a quick fix? Try dipping a chopstick or spoon into a jar of umeboshi plum paste and licking it off next time you have a sugar craving. The sourness will give you a jolt.

I didn't know all of that about apples, but I myself used to buy some apples and peanut butter, and eat them for lunch when I was kind of tight on funds. It seemed like it always held me over until dinner time, although I really didn't give it that much thought. I like to take a green apple and spread a little peanut butter on it. I think I will start doing that again. I have been being a little frugal here lately, and that will just help some more. Thanks for the information, and thanks for the reminder of how good apples are. Have a great day!

your welcome. Also if you follow the website I provided, on the second page it provides a list of all types of apples, and which ones are best during the different times of the year. So you know you are eating the best type of apple for that season!

Great post Jess, I will be substituting the apple smoothie for a meal. My stomach does not tolerate apples very well, but I am going to try the smoothie and see. Thanks for the great post.
