Here we have what is one of the most historic political events in American history, any yet isn't the stage set for failure no matter who or what party will take the helm next?
I am very happy that Barack Obama won. I just hope that the deck isn't rigged before he even hangs his hat for the first time.

Well all I can say is Obama got himself into this mess. No one made him become president. He decided to run for the job. He knew the country was a mess. He knew he had a tough job ahead of him. He still chose to do it.
I can not say he is in a no win situation but he is definately in a hard situation. I have often wondered if McCain was secretly glad he lost so that he did not have to deal with it all. WOuld you want to?

Not with a 10-lightyear pole! Yeah - he went for the job. And I'm sure he had every intention of winning. No "token" campaign was this!
Is it just me, or did his face age like 10 years the night - the very night - he learned he had won?

Woah - has anyone done a side by side of the 2000 George W. and his present day face? Whether he is or was ever fully comprehending the responsibility of the presidency or not - the guy has aged!

I hope so too but Barrack will have his hands full. Here he is just about to take the reigns and he is faced with the largest financial crisis ever and at a time when Americas reputation is at its lowest. In tough times however that’s when we need strong leadership and this is an opportunity for Obama to live up to his rhetoric and deliver.
The good thing about this situation is that he knows what he is to attack in terms of priority the financial crisis. He will obviously have to support some kind of bailout for certain industries and make money more available for starting new business.
Next he will have to place emphasis on America foreign policy and popularity in the world. America's reputation was ruined during the Iraqi fiasco and now he has to set about towards dissipating America's militaristic trends and engage in softer bilateral practices.
So it is tipped and maybe not in his favor but this an opportunity to show what he is made of .
