Why are people scared of reptiles?

in my whole life of owning reptiles i have never been scared of them. i have been bitten by my tegu when she was younger left a few bad bites but im still not scared of her. i just dont understand.

I don't understand the fear myself. Most reptiles are harmless and incredibly beneficial in keeping the vermin and insect populations down. The ones that are venomous are still beneficial and very few are aggressive unless provoked in some way. There are many more mammals to fear than reptiles.
