I had an old ipod nano, one of the skinny long ones. Well came with a cd for itunes. When it downloaded onto my computer it worked fine however the nano ended up breaking. I went and bought the new version of the Nano when I went to download the songs from my itunes it wouldn't. It said the Nano needed a different itunes. Then i had to download the newer version and recopy all my songs to the newer itunes. Why wouldn't my itunes work, it wasn't even a year old? Wouldn't it be easier if they made an itunes that worked for an ipod, old or new?

I had to do the same thing with my brother's new 4th generation Nano. I have an older Nano, and I had updated my iTunes a couple of times, but it still was not updated enough for the 4th generation Nano. I think it must be because each new iPod generation just has newer software that isn't configured to work with the older versions of iTunes. So, you have to update the iTunes software to work with the iPods.
