Bristol Palin Gives Birth To Baby Boy In Alaska

United States
December 29, 2008 7:22pm CST
An article on Yahoo says that Bristol Palin (Governor Sarah Palin's daughter) gave birth to a son. At the bottom of the article is says "The Governor's office called the birth a private family matter". I commend her office and her respecting her daughter and her new grandson. Why is that we think that anything that happens in people's lives who are "well known" or a celebrity is our business? This is a special time for the Palins and I would think the most respectful thing for anyone to do is to let them have their space and welcome this child into the world. Is there anyone else who thinks that we get too caught up in other people's personal lives?

Yes, we as a society seem to believe that the private lives of those in the public eye are also the public domain. It is a very unfortunate outcome of the media feeding frenzy and the availability of all media outlets we have today. Add to this there are far too many people today who make their lives fodder for our curiosity and it suddenly becomes very difficult for us to separate those who wish some privacy from those who do not. I personally think it is in part due to all the "reality TV", the stars who parade their private lives and the lives of their children, the people who are famous for simply do bad things, the the list goes on. Good for the Palin's fro wanting to keep this a family time. I hope they are successful in this. I hope for the sake of the all the young people involved they have some private time to bond with their new baby. I even hope for Governor Palin and her husband that they have the opportunity to spend some quality time with their new grandchild before duty and public calls them back.

That is good news that the mother and the baby is doing fine. It is good that Governor Palin is making her granddaughter's birth a private matter. Even People who are in the public's eye or government are proud of their children and grandchildren. And they should be off limit to the public. I wish the mother and baby and the rest of the family a safe and happy life.

we do actually! i was reading yahoo news last week and was shocked to see that there was a news article on the guy in twilight (what's his name?) and his hair cut! I mean seriously, do we need to know about that? I think we are too exposed to news on celebrity and politician's private lives that in a way we expect to know everything going on in their lives!

i know exactly what you mean! i mean really, if you get a haircut then when you go to work or school or something then they say, that looks nice, where/when'd you get it? and then you move on. Good for Robert Pattinson if he got a haircut. But I don't really think they need to announce it to the world.

I know hwat you mean. Look at Brad and Angelina and their bunch. Everyone knows teh kids names and all about their lives. Britney Spears is another. Why do we care what happens in these people's personal lives. The same for Palin and her daughter. But somehow if you are famous than people think they have the right to know every aspect of your life and you are some how not entitled to any privacy at all. IT is sad. I do not really understand it.

I would hate to be famous or related to someone famous as your life is certainly not your own. I really hope the press leave her alone to celebrate and recover in peace. I always feel sorry for Britney spears who has no privacy at all. This is great news of Sarah Palins Grandson being born.

I think they should leave the girl alone, and I am liberal and don't like her mom. But of course, I hope Sarah does not try to preach to the rest of us how we should have better values, teach our kids to be more responsible, etc. since she can't keep her daughter from getting pregnant by some nimrod she met at school. Of course, saying this, I hope my kids turn out all right. I'd hate to have the media examining every step I take.

I agree, we should learn to mind our own business and stop thinking that because someone is or has been in the public that gives us the right to know every detail of their private lives. I hope everyone does give the Palin and Johnston families their privacy as they welcome this new arrival into their lives. The press will likely be hounding them for photos and other personal information about this baby but I hope if they tell everyone to mind their own business their wishes are honored. Annie

I suppose when you say 'we'...you mean 'the media' coz they are the ones that get so caught up in people's lives.. We're more like the spectators of the circus that goes on between the media and these so called celebs and personalities! Yes, we listen to the gossip and read the news but we wouldn't if it wasn't so readily provided to us.

I agree, what Govenor Palin's daughter personal life is, has nothing to do with how her mother is running the state of Alaska. The media, especially the liberal wing media should leave the Palins' personal lives alone. They've done more than enough to soil this family's reputation that had nothing to do with how qualified or unqualified for the role of Govenor or VP Ms. Palin was. So far it seems the majority of alaskans seem to have no problem with Ms. Palin running the state and we should leave her and her family's personal lives alone. Lastly my congrats to her daughter and fiancee.
