Great Danes

One of the best dogs I ever had was my great Dane. Mine was a Merle (kind of grey and black spotted.) I had him for about 7 years. The only thing I didn't like was the fact of the larger the dog, the shorter their life expectancy. He was SO much fun! Whoever drew that Marmaduke cartoon sure knew the Great Dane personality and got it right on! Mine was called Brutus. He was intimidating to others because of his size, but when my one cat had kittens, he'd let them crawl all over him and even sleep in his ear lol. As big as they are, they seem to be very aware of their size. Mine never knocked things over or acted rough in the house. They are true 'gentle giants', and if I had more energy and time I'd sure get another one. Mine used to pick this one overstuffed chair and flip the cushions and hide his bones in there. My elderly aunt came one day and sat in the chair and I asked her if her back hurt because she was sitting cockeyed. When she said no, her back was ok, I asked her to stand up and here was all those giant chew bones hahaha. Hope you get one someday :-) I have a German Shepherd right now. When I was still married my hubby wouldn't let me get another Dane...he always wanted a shepherd.

Great Danes are very pretty dogs. But I do not own one. I own 4 mini daschunds. I always have inside animals. Never outside. I dont trust people around my animals when they are outside.

Great Danes are gorgeous. & the colors you picked are my favorites too! Well one thing with Great Danes I believe is they are prone to Bloat- so be cautious & aware of that. Overall- they are one of my few favorite breeds. Hope you get your baby Dane in the near future!
