I am going to have one child... Because I don't think I could devote myself to two children.

That is a good thought. Do you think you might not have to devote as much time if the had a playmate?

I think the 'best' here is relative to each and everyone's preference. I got two children and me and my hubby decided not to have another anymore. Well, some of the reasons for that decision are financial resources and quality time. As parents we understand that it is our major responsibility to provide for them. We want to give nothing but the best and our best may not be enough if there would be too many of them.

I think an only child is a wonderful idea. I have one child that is two. I will not have another one the pain was to much to bare. Now on the same hand all together I have three. My fiancee has two boys and with my son we have three. I love all three of them the same. I would do anything for any one of them. I feel you stop where when and where your body tells you too.

I have two and am done. I really wanted three, but there is no more room in our schedule, our house, or our finances. I think that the number of children that is best for each family is different and people should do what is best for their individual home life.

I have 6 children. I thought I was done at 4 but apparently not. After my 4th, I had my set of twins. I think you get what god wants you to have.

Years ago a large family would be 6 or more children, now a large family is 4-6. Anything more than that I considered nuts. I know people who have only 1 child. Some are spoiled rotten, some are not. But even people with more children have been known to spoil their children just as much.

I think 2 to 3 children is about the right number. An only child sometimes grows up without some of the social skills you learn by having to deal and interact with other siblings. They may have a higher self esteem, as they have the sole attention of the parent, but they may also be more self absorbed for the lack of having to share anything with another growing up.
