I'm currently enjoying the novel "Gods Behaving Badly" which, in turn, gave me a question to ask you guys.
If you could be one of the Roman or Greek gods or goddesses, who would you want to be?
PS - My knowledge on the Roman or Greek gods and goddesses is a bit limited so it would be wonderful of you if you care to let me know of the powers of your chosen ONE.

I'm Greek Goddess Demeter(Ceres)...Well, that's according to the "Which Greek Goddess Are You?" Online Quiz anyway...
I am earth mother, provider of delicious food and beautiful children. I prefer the company of the young, but i have a decided wanderlust, which makes being tied down lead to periods of depression.I am conscientious, law-abiding and spiritual. Very interesting...as i was drawn to her statue when i visited the Vatican....Take the Quiz and report back Gods/Goddesses...

I am hearty Artemis. I don't really know why but I was hoping I would not be Aphrodite. I am happy much with Artemis.
I have strength, agility and perseverance.
Wanderlust has a nice ring to it, fikifiki.
Why is the test ridiculous, Ziggy? And way to go, steflane?

Why Zeus of course! The omnipotent deity that knows and sees all! But if Zeus was not an option then I would choose Neptune or Poseidon so I could rule the oceans instead. An eternity in the sea sounds good to me and I could spend most of my time in between my Godly duties lazing on the beach!

Good one, James. And it's the first response too. I like! And if someone tries to mess with you, as Zeus, you can send lightning their way.

I pity the man who decides to take a dip in the water when this is all going on.

Good one!
And guess what, I have very little idea about mythological figures. But, choosing one, would not be a difficult task. I would go for Indian GANESHA. He is the sweetest lord with a pot belly and a long trunk like elephant and he is very generous, fun loving, God of knowledge and remover of all obstacles according to Hindu mythology.
He has four hands, elephant's head and a big belly. A unique combination of his elephant-like head and a quick moving tiny mouse vehicle represents tremendous wisdom, intelligence, and presence of mind.
I just like his flamboyance..

You just sold me on this one, mimpi. I like elephants and I think I've seen Ganesha before in stores as well. Remover of all obstacles... I think everyone would jump on that one. Thanks again, Mou.

In spite of the fact that the home of the greek gods is also my email address, I have never been much into mythology. I used to pretend I was Venus rising from the sea when I lived in Florida, but that's about it.
How I chose my email address was that I was living in a wonderful house that sat up on top of a small hill. I had painted the living room as a sky full of fluffy clouds... it was an amazing sensation! I felt like I was living on Mt Olympus, and in fact the only ring I wear is on my goddess finger. So it seemed natural to use it as my address.
I feel compelled to comment here though that I am an Aries... ruled by Mars, the god of war.

Which one is the goddess finger, ziggy? I hope that your association with Ares or Mars does not mean that it is the middle finger.
You always got to live in very cool places, Ziggy.

I was told by a 'Priestess of Avalon', hehehe, that the goddess finger is the index finger of the left hand.
Yeah, I like living in interesting places. I will continue to do that too!

Unfortunately, I don't really like to wear rings. But when that ever occurs to me, I will definitely remember the left index finger.

I don't know much about mythology but I've always admired the gray eyed goddess Athena. I admire the fact that she is strong and powerful and intelligent. She is the brain child of Zeus. Upon her birth she emerged from his brain dressed in full armor for battle. She actually cut herself free of his brain with her sword. Talk about doing things on your own terms.
I feel like she is her fathers favorite child, since she is 100% Zeus... no mother. She is more powerful and confident. She is not obedient to gender roles. She is a beautiful, cunning, intelligent, warrior.

I am so happy that I said you guys should elaborate as I enjoy reading what you have to say. I like this kind of learning. I did not even know she did not have a mother. So how was she born though? I know she is a goddess but I can't seem to put my mind on her being borne by Zeus alone. Thanks, glords.

LOL. Is that like an analogy or something? That Athena was going to be his lifetime headache? That is very cool though. Thanks, glords.

I agree with you on the name Daphne. And she got turned into a tree because she did not want anything to do with Apollo. Well, Eros "made" Apollo want her really badly while he "made" Daphne not want Apollo at all.
Thanks, susanchen and yes, I got the honey. Well, my sister got the honey for me. I am sorry I haven't gotten to replying to your message. Thanks again.

The Greeks and Romans wanted their Gods and Goddesses to be just like them. The Gods could get into as much trouble as we do.

I am not a great fan of chosen ones. But since it is you, OK. I'd have to rule out the 100-headed Hesperian dragon because Herakles "slew" it. Awwww, did you mean from the top 12? Then I would have to choose between Demeter and Artemis. It is tempting to rule the afterlife and have the poppy glower as one's emblem, but Demeter had too many illegitimate children. I shall have to choose Artemis.

I did not know there was a top 12 list for gods and goddesses. Things I learn from you, drannhh. I thought Artemis was a god (not goddess) for a long time until I finally learned SHE wasn't. Artemis could never have illegitimate children as she's the goddess of chastity, right? I do see why you also mentioned Demeter. I'd like to be a goddess that helps in bringing life...
Thanks, drannhh. I hope you and your husband have another unforgettable year ahead. I am so grateful to have "met" you here.
