the rumour that microsoft was set to lay off people in january 15th 2009 is no longer rumour but a fact.staff at microsoft has been informed that the company is
readying major layoffs to its worldwide operations and it's not a small cut either.
currently microsoft employs about 90,000 people across the world and from what we're hearing, some 15,000 of those are expected to be giving marching orders come
january 15th,that's almost 17% of microsoft's total force,not exactly a small number.
finally, the software had to chosen this way to deal with the economic depression...

Can't believe that a company like Microsoft is suffering from economic depression. It may also be because of bad performance. Because to-date, to my knowledge, MS have never laid down members on bad performance on a large scale like every other company does yearly or in 2 years. May be this is the first time that they did it. In India a company laid down some 20-30 jobs some months back; everyone then said that it was due to economic depression... but then, the company told that it was just due to bad performance and that it is their routine yearly.....

hi vishnu, the msn department is most likely to carry the brunt of the layoffs duo to the bad performance and I believe guys working in the Xbox 360 department might be pretty safe because the console sells well : ) thanks for your response and have a good day.

I didn't mean to say the performance of the services... I mean to say, the performance of individual employees....
