I would just like to know what you guys think? I have missed church over 2 months now and it's not cause I don't WANT to go, I just can't!!! I'm severly depressed right now and can't be around people. I know that sounds really weird, but it's especially hard being around the people I know and care about. I don't want them to see me like this. I know I will eventually have to see them, but right now I don't think I can handle it..

Hi Djbrat! First of all, my prayer is that God will give you His joy (the joy of the Lord is your strength). Second of all, I'm glad that you have asked this question. It's good that you are seeking other people's opinion and that you have not made up your mind about this. Thirdly, I must quote the Bible, which should be our benchmark and not other people's (including mine!) advice and opinion. The Bible says that we shouldn't forsake fellowshipping together so yeah it is REALLY bad to miss Church, according to the Bible :-) Fourthly, I am VERY concerned about your church. Have any of the members come to visit you, to comfort and encourage you? Are they even aware that you are going through a difficult time? Is any of them praying for you? I go to the best Church in the world and when I'm feeling low (my personality is that of a melancholic so I can understand about depression) the first place I want to go is Church. Church should be a place where you run to when you are having problems, not a place you run from. As my pastor says, Church is a hospital and we are all recovering sinners :-) I will keep you in my prayers. Be blessed and HAPPY new year!

Thanks for that insight, I have much much to learn which I am new to this. And yes my church has contacted me with concern and have let me know plenty that they are praying for me and I love my church, just feel really guilty cause I haven't gone and don't really want to right now. Not that I don't miss it, I just don't want them to see me this way...

You've been absent from service for 2 months? Has anyone from your congregation contacted you?
The reason I ask, is because God nor Jesus never comanded us to attend worship services every Sunday. They did however comand us to love them and live our lives accordingly everyday, and then take a day off from everything. Do you read your bible regularly? Do you pray on a consistant basis? Do you talk to others about what you've read and other beliefs?
If you do these things you are pleasing your Lord. If you've missed 8 services and noone has contacted you, you probably shouldn't return to that building.

Hello, I am so happy to see how God really uses other people to many times remind us that He love us. You see your discussion states that you are really depressed and for few responses from here you decided to go to your church...How God really uses other people's concern to alleviate the sorrows from within.
I would like to give you some thoughts too: One day I told to my friend that I will not be worrying over any financial problem anymore, that I have hired a "professional worrier" and Offered him Ten Thousand dollars a month (That time I was financially unstable)just to manage my worries.
My friend was so surprised and was thinking where I would get the amount to pay the salary of the Professional worrier I'ved hired until she could'nt help but asked me as to where I'l get the money evrery month to pay the Professional Worrier. Well I answered..That is why I have hired "Him" to manage my worries including the salaries to be paid.
I hope you will get my message and God bless us all.
