Yesterday I had a doctor's appointment with my gyno, (i'm 38 weeks pregnant with my frist child) and thought nothing of it how ever they took my blood pressure and it was high so they figured i needed to rest a little and went on with the remainder of the visit at the end they took my blood pressure again and it was still high so they decided to take a urine sample and it had some protien in it. Thats when the docotr admitted me to OB unit at the hospital and my husband and I where there for about five hours while they took blood moniterd me and the baby and then took another urine sample. By the end of the whole thing i was able to come home how ever i am now on bed rest until the baby is born. I'm not happy or excited about this its completely irritating I mean its one thing to want to stay in bed all day and completely another to be told you can't do anything else but. I can't wait to be a mother and have been debating on having myself induced. I'm scared but i want to do what ever is better medically for the baby and myself. What does everyone think? Is induction worse than waiting till the baby is ready to come out? Does it hurt worse? My own mother told me i was induced because i was late coming out and it hurt worse than all four of her labors which scares the heck out of me. Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

If your 38 wks pregnant, I would say ask to be induced....They say 2 wks before and 2 wks after the original due date is considered on time. If they sent you home, the baby must be fine and you must be ok, otherwise they would have kept you there and either induced you then or would have run more test....The only thing I would be concerned about is you BP....You don't want that to high as it could be dangerous for you and your baby. Inducing labor sometimes means that you have a longer and can be more painful labor, but you could always choose the epidural and then that wouldn't matter. I didn't ever have a chance to get any pain meds with my son, as I barely made it to the hospital and he was ready to come out.....
Well whatever you choose to do, good luck to you!!

Yea, you really need to be careful with a High BP at anytime, but even more so if you are pregnant. No only could it hurt you, but it could hurt that little bun in the oven!!!

Yikes, good point, so sorry I forgot you did mention something about your BP, you don't want to fool with that.
Ms. shihtzumama is right, that is something you don't want to fool with. I have to agree, talk to them about being induced.
Sorry my math was off.

I think its up to you. . if your going to have an epi anways, you dont have to worry about how much its going to hurt ;)

well im hoping that i wont need to have an epidural so i have told the nurses and my doctor that unless i absoulutly say i want one to not give me one or even offer one. There is another pain med they can give me which will only last an hour and they can't give it to me close to giving birth so i may choose to do that

I haven't been to the Doctor lately but I do believe something could be wrong, because I kept taking a second breath and that just start happening within the last Month, I know I am going to get it checked out!

I feel for you. I was induced when I was pregnant with my second son. It does hurt a lot.
If you can I would suggest that you try and wait a little longer. Given that you are within the 6 week window, the baby would be all right if born a little early.
Now if you would like to have the baby but don't want to necessarily be induced, there are ways.:) One in fact that your husband will probably enjoy.
Please excuse this but, here you go... make love..... walk as much as you can possibly walk... and make more love. Oh and make sure you throw some warm baths in there too.
If you choose to do this, talk to your husband to make sure he is all right with helping you have your child a little earlier.
My sons were all born with in the 6 week window prior to their due date. My oldest was actually 4 weeks away from his due date, middle almost 6 weeks and youngest 5 weeks. All are very healthy and happy teenagers now. 16, 14, 12.
They do say it is best to keep the little guys and gals in as long as possible, they tend to be a lot healthier at birth and their weight is at a good weight that the doctors prefer.
So, if you don't mind a little vacation, I say enjoy it while you can, but if you are like me and can't sit still, then I say go for it and have your baby. But, try and induce naturally rather than from all the chemicals they can give you at the hospital, you and the baby will be better off.
Good luck!
**** The method listed above doesn't work for everyone....
