For the past 28 years of my life, I always make it a point that I celebrate the coming new year with my family. We have a mini countdown at home and we have a party after. There are a lots of food to eat, we light some firecrackers, we make noise, every windows, doors and lights are turned on, and just like any Filipinos around the world, we exercise our traditions and superstitious beliefs, like putting on polka-dotted clothing, preparing circular foods and fruits, jumping right at the strike of 12 midnight, etc. How do you celebrate New Year?

To me, New Year is just like any other day. To me, there's nothing special about it. I know that it's cynical, but it's just the way I see it. Every year, it's been the same thing. My mom and my sister wishing each other a zillion times to have a happy new year and giving each other a zillion kisses. I said it once, gave them one kiss each, and that's it. So, I think that's why I never really like New Year. My family never really made things easy for me.
