hahaha these superstitious beliefs are funny thing to think about but some people believe it. Well, I remember my aunt will have 12 kinds of fruits in her table on Christmas eve. Fruits must be round like, grapes, oranges, apples, peach, etc,, anything that is round. She said these fruits is a sign for good luck in 12 months. hahahaha.. Then they will wear polka dots dress in symbols of money. I keep on laughing with these superstitions. I just watch them doing it. They even said that.. it is not good to eat chicken on New year because you will become hard up like the chicken keep on scratching the ground for food.. which means having a hard time.
hahaha!! how is that? how is it related to our economy? funny thing.

I know it's all just funny stories but I'm sooo not eating chicken on New Year's Day. Not that I was planning to anyway. Happy New Year!

My family has blackeyed peas for the luck. We also have Cabbage for money. and we have cornbread with it. No superstition for the cornbread. It just tastes good with the cabbage and black eyed peas! :-)

We usually eat pork on New Years Day because it's supposed to bring you and your family good luck if you eat it. I'm not sure where that came from but that is something that my family does. Usually, on New Years Eve, we eat a lot of foods because it's kind of like signaling that you'll be well fed in the new year.
