How Often do you "SUN" your room?

I sun mine every week.
It's just that, after a week, my room would start smelling a little musky and has that "sleep" smell in it. And honestly, i thought it is only hygienic to Sun your room as well as your mattress. But my mattress is really thick.. i mean normal beds have real thick mattresses, so what i do is sun my room. Allow the sun to come in and "sun" up all the moist.
My friend was surprised when i mentioned i was sunning my room. She has NEVEr heard of sunning one's room. She says her room's windows were never opened. Now that has me wondering... Doesn't her room smell? And how on EARTH can she live with it?
So my question is...
Do you sun your room?
Or
Do you just let it "What will be will be?" & do the basic by changing your bed linens every 2 weeks?

I have never heard of "sunning" a room myself, but I do allow the sun to come through the windows throughout the day. I do not open my windows very often throughout the winter, as it's too cold, but I will every now and then just to air out the stuffiness that accumulates from being closed up all winter long. If that was my room, I would properly launder the bed linens, curtains/drapes, etc. I would also invest in some Febreeze to spray periodically, as well and burn some scented candles. Those from Yankee Candle seem to be the best. You can light these and just let them burn, and the scent will fill your entire home with a clean fresh scent. It's best to properly do a deep clean at least every two weeks, and tidy up everyday. Another good suggestion is to put some unused dryer sheets under the bed or behind the dresser. This is a inexpensive way to keep a fresh clean scent.

With the weather being minus 30 below during the winter right now here in Canada it's very difficult to air our room out. Our room is very large as it being the master bedroom so what I do is just wash the linen every two weeks. We had to put plastic over the windows to stop the drafts from coming in so not much sun can come through. I do my dusting every week in the whole house and keep it very tidy and also do vacuuming so it decreases the amount of dust. I also don't like having food or drinks in there unless it's just water. This house is nice and dry so water just evaporates allowing it not to be so dry in the bedroom
Happy new year

Have done it once a week at least. I gotta say that room needs to have exposure to sun light as it would kill bacterial things that makes the room smelly, dusty or even feel humid. In addition to the above I also opened the windows to allow the room to be refreshed and blow away all the nasty smell so I feel comfortable when sleeping. I changed the bed/pillow sheets every 2-4 weeks. Trust me you will feel better and makes your room for comfort and enjoyable to live in. Cheers.

The window in my room is always open unless I go out or there's heavy rain. Rain will come in if it's to heavy. The sun will shine in very hot at about 2pm - 6pm in my room. So it is sunned every day unless I am taking an afternoon nap. I would close the curtain and peg it so that the sun does not shine on my face. Bedlinens are changed every week - mostly Sunday nights or Monday mornings. It's great to sleep on fresh linens.

My windows are always opened. I only close it at night when I turn on the AC. I think some people get used to living in closed quarters. Sure, there's a smell, but if you're always there then you'd get used to it. In very cold places, people tend to forget to sun their room especially in the winter. But I grew up with my windows opened so I always have to get some fresh air in my room no matter where I am!

I just learned this new term from you "sunning". i do that every weekend or whenever i am at home. i open the windows in the morning and let the sun come in.. it will take away the "room smell " and will make my room fresh smelling. i would change my bedsheets and comforters and would vaccuum the whole room and dust it.

I have never heard of sunning a room. I have heard of airing a room out. I change and wash our sheets every week or within 2 weeks too. Right now as it is winter I cant really air the room out. However we have a big sliding glass door in our back wall and the sun comes thru there along with a window on another wall. If it hits the 40's I sometimes open the window but not often as we have little ones in the house. I also clean everyday and dust often.
Now when Spring gets here all windows will be thrown open and I will be loving it!

Of course i do sun my room often when i am home and its very essential during winter season. My room gets the sun only during the noon so i have to open the window and let the sun in when i am home otherwise it smells bad as we usually close the room as it is very cold these days. I change my bed covers and pillow covers every once a week and cleaning the floor everyday in the morning. Anyway regal wishing you a very happy new year.

Well I love sunning my room ! Earlier I used to do it everyday. I leave the panes open before leaving for work and close them when I come back. Now because It is very cold, I do it only during Saturday-Sunday Afternoons. Sunlight is the Best Disinfectant- it purifies air- kills germs- bacteria- adds freshness- and also helps prevent spider webs. Hence I do it as a ritual..learnt it from my mother. Everyone in my family doe sit , and so do all my friends..
Apart from this I also Make my bed everyday, remove trash , change sheets every fortnight and vacuum every other weekend. I love staying in an orderly manner...and so does my hubby. :)
Guys! Try sunning your room every now & then! You will love it & it is great for your health! :) Happy New Year!
