If honesty is the best policy, Why isn't anyone being honest with themselves? You do consider yourself to be an honest person,Right? Do you say?,"Damn dude your breath smells like s**t!You need a mint!" Do you say?,"Gee maam you smell pretty fishy today!" or Ladies, Do you tell the guy?"No, I didn't climax and you'll never satisfy me Pepe Le Pewney!" or Ladies do you say?,"Man,You just ugly and that's why I won't give you any!"or Do you lie and say?,"You're too nice for me!" How honest are we really? Would you lie to keep from hurting someone's feelings? So now, Is it ok to lie and wrong to be honest? or Is it right to be honest and wrong to lie? Clarify!

It's only a lie if the person asks you a direct question. If someone breath stinks, then I wouldn't say anything unless they asked me if it stinks. And there's a way to be honest, but tactful. I wouldn't say it how you stated in your example. I would definitely find a nicer way of letting them know unless it's a good friend or family member that will not be offended. Being tactful is the key. You can be completely honest with someone without hurting their feelings as much.

I think, it is true that honesty is the best policy and it pays in the long run. But we should avoid saying harsh truth directly and instead use some different words so that the person should not be offended by that truth.
