Christian and Muslim heavens and hells - are they the same places?

Well? I will refrain from adding Jews to the list though I would be happy to know about the Jewish idea of the afterlife. So, my friends Jews, what happens after you die? Do you go to heaven if you are good boys and girls and hell if you are bad? Is it the same hell/heaven as the Christian and Muslim heaven/hell? Christians and Muslims, I take it that Allah and Yahweh is one and the same. Muslims, I know you say Jesus is not Allah/Yahweh's son, but the Christians sing a different tune. Anyway, I am interested in your heavens and hells. Since you have the same God, you must be having the same heaven and hell? How do you manage together over there with all your differences in opinion? Cheers and happy Mylotting

God is the same one for everybody whether you are a christian or not. So it is the same heaven or hell for us both. Islam, Christian and Judaism are monotheistic religions. All believe in one God. However the way that heaven is perceived by muslims and christians is very different. For christians heaven is a state where your soul enjoy God and you get rid off your body. For muslims it is a bit different.

If if the same place, the way it is perceived doesn't really make it different. ;)

well I am here just coz I wanted to know what people say on this. I have sought out sites on afterlife in various religions in the net, but have not really understood the essence of it. Let’s see how far this discussion goes and if we get any proper responses. Personally, I believe in the concept of hell and heaven being right here by our own actions. And of course Hinduism has the classic concept of every action having an equal and opposite reaction in its Karma theory, so hell and heaven should have no meaning.

Matths, The concept of swarga as you say in Hinduism is but a corruption of original Hindu principles. As you must be knowing original Hinduism was monotheist with the basic principle of Karma guiding and determining our cycle of rebirth. These principles were later corrupted to make Hinduism Polytheist in nature and all these concepts of Swarga and Naraka with millions gods and goddesses. There is sin per se in Hinduism, only the concept of Karma and its all in your own hands. Doing good karma through cycles of consecutive lives takes the soul more towards renunciation and salvation to ultimate achieve moksha i.e. freedom from the cycle of rebirth.

Hi Mathss, you don't have to worry about swarga and naraka. You will go only to the Christian hell where Satan will roast you over an ungreased pan for arguing with Hindus about swarga and naraka. Say an Our Father daily, boy! And if you are a Catholic, add a Hail Mary and a Holy Mary to it.

Hi positiveminded, An interesting discussion indeed, but I'm sure neither Muslim nor Christian extremist expect to see the other in Heaven or hell. Such Christians will tell you that only born again Christians will go to heaven, and Muslims will take the opposite view, putting themselves in heaven and all Christians in hell. There are people on both sides who have a much less radical view. Blessings.

I think that both are the same. But there will of course be different opinions. I feel that problem has to be resolved by Allah or Yahweh, whatever the real name of the guy is supposed to be. Maybe one more Bible or Quran will have to be written down in heaven. Or maybe there will be crusaeds in heaven also.

It's the same since its only 1 heaven and 1 hell. We only have One God. People who whorship any other besides God, will go to hell according to Islam. But not according to christianity since they worship a human being. It's different criterias in the different religions... who end up in hell and who end up in paradise will we find out after we die... :-)

This girl does not believe in a literal hell at all. So what kind of Christian does that make me? Do I have a label? (Your other discussion inspired that question...lol). If I say that I wish someone would go to hell, I always say that I wish they would go to the hell they believe in. lol Ok, I'm an old Rod Serling fan...that happened in either a Twilight Zone or a Night Gallery. And no, I don't have God and Rod Serling mixed up! lol I just think they both had good ideas. There are so many different Christian beliefs, I don't think any of us agree on everything. I'm definitely too liberal for most; but I don't feel like I have to explain it or argue about it. Everyone is free to believe as they will.

I was always taught that hell is simply a place without your god. I guess that works in general for many religions.
