The sentiments of many here in India and I think all over the wold is "Thank God 2008 is over. The year has not been a very peaceful one for us.
Tonight is a night when we all will be looking forward to a lot of good happenings in the next 365 days. We want to ring out the old and ring in the new. Ring out the false and ring in the true. Let us vow todo some of the things we wanted to do but could not find the time. Drop an old grudge and replace it with some pleasant memories. Call up a forgotton friend. Vow not to make a promise we cannot keep.
May this New Year be better than the old one
May the New Year give you want you need and what you wanted in secret
May the New Year bless you with all the right things.
May the New Year bring in happiness, success and prosperity
A prosperous New Year to all in Mylot

Hello everyone. I'm new here. Glad to join mylot.
I want to try something new in the new year, just like now, that I've never discuss in English in a foreign bbs.
It's not a peaceful year and there are definitely many difficults in 2009.
I will graduate after some months and it's so hard to find a satisfactory job now.
But I'm still full of hope.
I think that nothing will be worse than present and so everything will be better.

Thnx a lot for the wishes Mayka. Yes, this year has not been a peaceful one for India and I think the number of attacks in our country has risen sharply during this year. However, wishes alone would not really help us and I look forward to seeing some concrete measures being taken by the govt to increase internal security.

We always live on hopes and aspirations and always feel that future would be better for us. The past is gone, we can just learn from our experience and improve our tomorrow.

well I doubt if we can blame the year for it. But yes, you are right - this year was one of the most violent years throughtout the world. Even as we speak, there are mounting casualities in the Gaza strip. I think people are no longer counting the number of attacks. Nowadays nobody is surprised when they hear of any terrorist attacks. Its like - "Whats new about that?". Just the places vary and the number of people dying vary.
Lets hope 2009 strengthens the people of India and also strengthens ties between India and Pakistan. Hope no more bloodshed occurs in any part of the country.
Lets all hope for a better and brighter future..
Happy New Year to all..

Nobody can be blamed for whatever had happened except us human beings. This year has been filled with terrorist attacks and wars in many parts of the world. Now everyone would want peace and just hope that things would be better in 2009. Yes India and Pakistan need to strengthen ties now.
Wish you and your family a Happy 2009.

I think you are right in a way that 2008 wasn't the year for india but if we see the beijing olympics and cricket and the science achievements of india we are definitely going to say that year has given a lot of moments to cheer up. but the mumbai attack made them all fade. we are a peace loving nation but terrorists and violence in mumbai towards the north indians made some disruptions to this countries reputation. hope these things will be sorted out permanently in the year 2009.

Well, 2008..has been a real year. Where, I don't think it could've gotten any worse. There is absolutely nothing we can do but pray.
