Hi friend uditpanda, my blood group is B(+ve). When i went to get the driving license, I had to get my blood group tested. As it is mandatory information to be given. That knowledge is helpful.
I donated blood in a camp organized by the students of the university where I studied. It did not feel bad. Rather gives a satisfaction.
However, as stated in other posts, blood is to be donated in a trusted place. There are so many risks associated with it.
Happy new year..

It's always fun to discover other's blood group and type. But I do need to clear up a detail here.
I am a clinical laboratory scientist, I work in a hospital laboratory which includes the blood bank. I do blood group and type testing along with crossmatch testing to make sure the unit of blood is compatible with the person who will recieve that unit.
What we would NOT DO is give Rh positive blood to an Rh negative recipient because the Rh antigen would cause an immune reaction! Granted, udit, that the first exposure would be less severe than an ABO incompatibility, it still happens, which would then 'sensitize' the patient so that the next time he/she receives Rh positive blood, the reaction could be fatal.
Happy New Year and may it be a safe, and joyous celebration for you!
As for me, I working New Year's Eve and Day in the blood bank, so I am hoping for everyone to be safe!

no my friend i would beg to differ...the rh antigen incompartibility doesn't cause any hazardous immune reaction as that would occur in ABO group incompartability transfusion. This is because if u r rh negative that means ur blood doesn't have the antibody for rh antigen if its ur first exposure.
Of perticular mention is if a rh negative mother carries a rh positive baby in her womb & if it is her 2nd or subsequent pregnancy...than the immune reaction would occur & the baby may die inside. It is a medical condition known as erythroblastosis foetalis.

my blood group is A+. I am lucky in the sense that both my hubby and our son has the same blood group A+. so in that way, we are quite protected within the family itself and for any requirement, we at least have each other to turn to.

mine is A positive. I think its best to donate in a registered blood bank, be it a governmental organisation or a private one. There proper asepsis & proper storage conditions are taken care of. & u don't have to fear about the needle...its not at all painful...just like an ant bite.gud luck.

My blood group and type is A+.
I used to donate blood regularly, giving 5 gallons over a period of 10 years...but then I was diagnosed with kidney cancer 4 years ago and cannot donate for a couple more years.
If you wish to donate, it is a simple process that does involve having a needle stuck into your arm, into a vein. So there is a small pinch of pain. But each unit of blood can help three people: one patient receives the packed red cells, one patient receives the plasma, and another patient receives the platelets. It is a very worthy cause. Just go to the American Red Cross (if you live in the USA) or International Red Cross or other such organization.
Happy New Year!
