Disclaimer : I am not trying to find out your personal life ,just trying to get insight into certain aspects of your sleeping habits lol.
For me the first and the second night in a new bed may be a little restless and I may spend hours tossing and turning before I start sleeping like a log. For others it may be a week ,a month and for some they never seem to get the hang of it .Other don’t seem to have a problem with it ,give them a bed and they will sleep anywhere. Sill for some they sleep so lightly that the slightest noise wakes them up.
Maybe there are situations that would determine how .Therefore I am wondering how well would you sleep at friends house vs. a hotel or how well would you sleep at family's house vs a stranger etc.
Tell us how well you adapt to this situation and provide examples if you can ?.Thank you in advance for your answer

I don't have any trouble sleeping anywhere I need to. On the other hand I do sleep lightly especially if there are small children present. Actually if anyone walks in and looks at me my eyes will pop open no matter how quiet they were. So what does that tell you about me?

My experience has always been a least a day or two, depending on the bed and the circumstances. I remember once we stayed at my aunt's house and she made us sleep on the floor, the witch. Granted, it was a shag carpet (this was 1968) but I still recall how inhospitable it was, even if she did give me a blanket and a pillow. You'd think hosts would give you a good bed, but that's not always the case. Once someone in my family gave me the sofa sleeper, and arrgh, was that thing uncomfortable!

It seems like I never get used to it as I usually only do so for a couple of nights at the most at a time. I end up waking up several times, and will get up earlier than I would normally.

Surprisingly, I can adapt to my environment really quickly. I can sleep no matter where I go. Rented apartments, hotels, friend's house, or a relative's house....anywhere! 'sides, whatever that happens around me doesn't wake me up in the middle of the night. For example, if I turned on the air conditioner and felt really cold in the middle of the night, I wouldn't have the slightest idea about it until I wake up in the morning and find myself with a blocked nose or running nose.

Well, I am definately the same way when it comes to sleeping in a strange bed or in a strange place you are unfamiliar with. I always end up not being able to sleep like I would at home, and end up finding myself a lot more tired. It usually takes me a couple of nights to get used to a New bed, and if it is at a Friends house, or in a Motel, by the time I might start to get used to it, I am back home again anyways. So I guess it all goes on to trying to do the Best we can with a situation that is unknown.

Hi ronnyb, (Happy New Year)
for me, It takes a while before I could actually fall asleep, anyplace beside my own bed. When we go to Laughlin, I know I've been there several times, but yet when it comes to go to bed, instead of sleeping the long way, (headboard to the foot of the bed) I'll sleep the opposite way. side to side. I don't know why, and I have to be up against the headboard. When I do sleep in other people house, it will take a while before I do fall asleep, but I will wake up every hour. Unless I've being drinking, than i know I can fall asleep right away.

I am a very light sleeper who can wake up at the slightest sound but I don't have a problem sleeping in a strange bed providing that is comfortable and I don't feel cold. I am usually very tired and could probably sleep standing up!

If I am tired I could sleep on the edge of a cliff. We have the odd night away in hotel during the year and I sleep quite well, then we have out bed in the caravan so really and truthfully I don't spend many nights away from one of my own beds, but If I go through a stage of not sleeping like at the moment I cannot sleep anywhere my husband gets worried about me and wants to sit up with me but i tell him to go back to bed as he is really tired.

after i went to bed , i will sleep within 5 minutes. and when in other places i won't get sleep upto half an hour.
my husband wakes up for small sound . i don;t wake up for small sounds.
i can sleep any where in my house like in bed ,sofa, and even on floor.but when i go other friends or relatives houses or in hotel , i will get sleep after half an hour only .
if the bed is new also , i can get sleep in my house and after 5minutes , i can get sleep.

It depends a lot on the situation. If I'm tired it does not take long for me to do sleep irrespective of the change. But otherwise, I really can't sleep elsewhere.

Hello ronnyb,
I don't have a problem sleeping in a new and strange bed. My body don't find any differences on the bed that I am sleeping. As long as it is comfortable, I can sleep very well on it. Usually when I am in a new place, I don't get to much sleep not because of the bed, but because of the new environment and excitement.
Regards.

It takes a little while but if I'm tired a bed of nails looks inviting. We move a lot so sleeping in a new bed has become par for the course. Sleeping in a new zip code is always fun too. I've slept on the best beds and on a bunk bed before, just as long as there is a pillow I'm good.

As long as a bed is halfway decent, I have no problem sleeping anywhere if I am sleepy. I do like a good pillow, not a solid foam or a feather pillow. I like a firm bed, but comfortable one. I would hate to get a really soft bed, though. My bed is firm, yet our body molds to it. The mattress I had before, which we put in another room, is VERY firm, and it's still the best mattress we've ever had. Took us a long time to get to enjoying it, but now, if I have to sleep on it, it is great!
I have never had any problems sleeping in motels, either. We do like the Marriott Courtyard beds best, though. But most motels have decent beds and decent pillows.

i also face the same problem like you.its very difficult for me to sleep instantly on a new bed,no matter how tired i am.its a few hours before i get to sleep on a starnge bed.i used to think i am amongst the few people who have this problem, but i have met quite a few people though in small numbers who face the same problem.
