Oh, that really hurt! Last night I was putting the dishes away, trying to carry more than one thing at a time to make it go quicker. Apparently at one point, I was carrying too much stuff because I dropped a pan on my toe! The edge of the pan landed right under the nail of my big toe. It was one of those pains that make you drop everything else (luckily I only had a plastic bowl left) and jump up and down yelling "OUCH OUCH OUCH!" It was pretty tender all night long and this morning it's still hurting a little bit. I don't think I really did anything to it, it's just a bit sore. I do think it'll bruise up a bit for the next few days, but I hope it wont keep me from exercising. I have learned my lesson though - let someone else put the dishes away!!!

Ouch is right. I know that feeling all too well. I was taking the groceries out of the trunk. Back then we still used paper bags. I was in my bare feet as it was summer and just as I pulled one bag out of the trunk it caught the edge of something and ripped open enough to let a large can of apple juice out the bottom. The can landed on an angle like a knife, so I know that pain the takes all the blood out of your head and you break into a cold sweat. My whole foot bruised and big lump grew in the spot where the can hit. I hope you get better soon. :)

Yeah, I said "OOOHHHH" when I read "the trunk caught it" - I knew what was coming!!! So far, it's not really buised, but sometimes my bruises show up a day or so later. It's still sore to walk and all, but I'm sure I'll live :)

Don't you hate those little pains. They can be so annoying and aggravating. You just want them to hurry up and go away so that you can go on with the rest of your life. But, I guess they're better than big pains. But, a little discomfort can really get to you when it doesn't go right away. Makes you appreciate the times when your body is walking around pain free and in good working order

I think it's feeling much better today. I hardly notice it at all so that's a good thing :)

You poor dear, having to suffer to enjoy a meal!! I hope the pain is bearable and the sore will go away quickly. Thank God you didn't carry any glassware or breakable dishes with you when that happened, otherwise you'd have experienced a greater disaster dropping these also when you reacted, and possibly getting a cut on your leg. Hope you have a quick recovery.

I do feel as if I was very fortunate - I didn't need to go to the doctor about this

My son feels compelled to drop his biggest, metalest, heaviest truck on my toes when ever he gets the chance. I'm not going anywhere near him when he gets his license. I feel for you and I hope it feels better soon. Try steel toed slippers...they could exist!;

HAHHAHAHAHAH!!! I love it!!! I'm sure they do exist, but I hate wearing slippers... I just have to slow down a bit (like that's gonna happen).

I always do so much of multitasking that I almost always end up dropping a thing or two. Usually its not paiful..But once I dropped a large Iron scissor on my feet and it really really hurt so bad, I was screaming and jumping all over the house...Hubby Dear had a hard time , making me sit down. He then soaked my feet in warm water, did little massage, sprayed an anti-pain thing....still it did swell up and got very red. Later we discovered that there was a small cut too so we rushed off to get the shot to avoid Tetanus. I really cant forget that day! But I still do multi tasking especially when I am on a cleaning spree on weekends or early morning! :) Its fun actually! I hope your feet gets better soon and the pan subsides...Take Care of Yourself & Have a Great Year 2009 ! :)

Thank you! Although it's a bit sore today, I think I'll survive :) It really hurt the most when it happened, thank goodness!!!

omg. I know exactly how that is. But try dropping a cast iron pan on your whole foot!! That really hurt and I couldn't walk for like a week. It brused and swelled and it got really tender. I actually think i might have broke a tiny bone somewhere but I didn't even bother going to the doctor because I know they would charge me an arm and a leg for just looking at it. Anyway, hang in there and it will get batter!!

I've had a broken bone in my foot as well as broken toe before. They don't really do much for it, just make you wear shoes all the time. Fortunately, this isn't broke, just REALLY sore.

ouchy! i did that once with a darn cast iron skillet! i was VERY lucky to have it just kind of graze my pinky toe, but that hurt enough as it was! pretty sore and a part of the nail did turn black, never fell off but finally grew back out! i remember flopping to the floor clutching my foot cussing and doing the "oh it hurts" rock back and forth maneuver lol! imagine how bad it would have been if the stupid skillet had actually landed flush on my poor little toe!!

OW! That's painful just to read about. I'm glad it healed well for you - I'm sure writhing around on the floor hollering help in that respect :) I didn't hardly even bruise, which makes me think maybe it didn't hurt as bad as I thought it did???

Hey reiny! I hope your toe feels better! Definitely sounds like something that I would do! I am always rushing and trying to do too much at once! I just want to get things finished so I would probably do what you did! And then of course an accident happens! And of course I get hurt and then I am sorry that I did what I did! I can't tell you how many accidents that I have had, especially in the kitchen. That is one of the most dangerous places for me because that is where I am always looking for short cuts to get finished quicker! And you would think that I would learn my lesson! Nope! Well feel better!

Lesson??? What's that mean???? I'll never learn. Today I saw something in the yard, my hands were full with stuff and I went to check it out. I dropped the mail all over the place. You'd think I learned, but NOOOOO!!! I saw something else (we had a terrible wind storm today) and I had to go pick that up TOO!!! Yeah, sometimes we're not the most intelligent people in the world...

Even when the smallest thing lands just right (or wrong) it will hurt as bad as a big thing!
