Firefox seems to be getting worse and worse and worse.

When I first got it, I used it 90% of the time. There are a few we sites that it wouldn't work with so I would use explorer. Today, I went to m yahoo account. It stayed on for 5 seconds then crashed. I hit restore previous, it stayed on for 3 or 4 seconds, then crashed. I'm starting to use IE more. I've heard this happens when you have a lot of addons but I hardley have any. I'm on firefox now, so far so good. But there have been many many times I went on mylot, started a discussion or commented on one, I got through two sentences and bamb! It sucks. It really really sucks.

I'm not really sure because i've never experienced any crashing in Firefox but i noticed it's slowness to open for the first time. It kind hogs my memory too unlike the previous version which opens up pretty fast without really slowing my computer.

The previous version was Awesome! It was only after I got the message that updates are avaiable on firefox and I hit update that this started to happen. I've heard other people also talk that firefox was faster but now is slower. I'm kind of hoping to see another updates are ready because maybe they will somehow fix this.

The problem with Firefox programmers is, they fix it even if it ain't broken. They should have made some additions without really involving the good stuffs which Firefox is known for.

It does seem to use a lot of memory. I have upgraded to version 3 and I suppose they always seem to make these programs bigger, never smaller and more efficient. Oh well at least it is still free. I guess everyone is trying our Chrome now.

Yeath, I have come across the similar problem with you. When I surf the internet with Firfox, it will become much slower than before. What is worse, the firefox will break down when surf some certain websites including my school website. I don't know how to solve the problem. And I don't like IE either.

That's the way it is with me. Certain websites, including this one, breaks down, sometimes when I'm in the middle of typing a comment or starting a discussion. And I also agree with you about IE. I'm on Firefox now as i'm typing this but give it another 15 minutes, it might close.

Firefox is my main internet browser both in Linux and Windows. But lately I used K-Meleon more than Firefox when I log into my Windows OS. K-Meleon is a lightweight web browser and very fast and easily customizable but only available for Windows. Its not used a lot of resources compared to Firefox. But in Linux OS, Firefox is the best browser and I don't use any other browser when I log into my Arch Linux. Its seldom crash compared in Windows OS.

That is the first time I have heard that kind of comment about Firefox. I love it and only use IE when I am forced to on someone else's computer, like at work. In fact, there were recently security issues so severe with IE that I stopped even that casual use of it. Luckily, though, more than one browser exists, so we can use the one that works best for us. For me that is Firefox.

It sounds like the last update took up too much of your memory. Newer computers have more memory so it's not a problem for them. You should be able to remove the update & get back to the firefox you were using previously using your computers control panel/add remove programs function. If you can identify & remove the "update" you should be fine.

I havent had any problems with it at all, I just downloaded it about a week ago and love it. It is so much faster then IE. It has crashed once on me and after that no problems since. With IE I had so many problems which is what lead me into looking for something else.

I don't remember having that problem with firefox. I actually have problems with IE. At times the browser closed when I'm here or on other site this happens with or without add ons. But on this PC I have both browsers so if one is stuck I will use another.

Same is being experienced by me also. Though I've not yet shifted to IE or some other browser, I'm thinking of doing so.

My guess is that you're just using a very awkward or old version of Firefox, & you aren't properly securing yourself with virus scans/protection and pop-up blockers. I have yet to encounter a problem with Firefox. The only thing i've ever experienced with Firefox which wasn't really a problem.. was conflicting add-ons. I had a wayyy old version of an add-on, and another add-on I got from somewhere completely different wouldn't run together and I couldn't and still cant for the life of me figure out why. I just turned off the one as it wasn't too important and my browser worked again. Sorry you're having troubles though.

I don't think firefox is getting worse and worse.Generally,it is better than than IE no matter in security and user-experience.but there is a little flaw that is starting up slowly.

I've noticed that Firefox has gotten a little finickey lately but I still think it's better than Internet Explorer which was so bad for me that I couldn't even open many sites.

This was happening to me for around a week and its being few days that i am using it nicely without crashing. I use mozilla firefox almost all the time and it was going on well for some but recently some bugs are attacking the explorer it seems. Anyway Internet explorer is also good if we use the updated version but i hardly use it as there seems to be scripts running and making it very slow at times but many people prefer it. Anyway wishing you a very happy new year Marty.

Sorry, I am not facing such problem. Newer version is slow. But as you are facing the problem you can blame it. Have you checked your anti-virus? Some anti-virus is the cause of slow running and other disturbance as you have mentioned. Also check your windows firewall. Often spyware, windows firewall and anti-virus making the problem.

Are you using AVG anti virus. If so disable the avg safe search and toolbar and see. I had this problem and later found out that it is the avg safe search add-on that is creating the problem.
