Do you mean this year is 2009?
Well, it depends on the market. Perhaps at the second half of the year, it's time to start investing when the stock is still at the lower price. Definitely I will go for blue chip stocks, as they are more reliable, and when the market is growing up, these shares will definitely go up.

There was a time when Citigroup, AIG, Fannie Mae, GM and Ford were among the bluest of the blue chips. Look at them now Do not put too much confidence in the title of a blue chip.
We are seeing companies that have been around for decades or more failing.
There is not one company in the entire world that cannot fail if something unexpected happens.
All I am saying is you can't be overconfident in these companies and feel "it can't happen to them"

I am invested in the market and have made some recent new investments although I missed the bottom in the stocks I bought. Now I just have to wait for the recovery and hope to get back to where I was before the recent crash.

There is never a time where you should not invest in the market. Although with the current market climate you should be leery of what you invest in and make sure to do through research before you make any decisions. Get third party opinions.
