Happy new year to everybody!! I had an appoinment with my gynae on this Monday. After the check up, he wanted me to make blood test to check whether i have diabetes or not as i have too much amniotic fluid. He said he doesn't know what causes this to me, so the first step he can do is to make the diabetes blood test. And he has to take my baby out by induced labour or c-section (depending on my baby's position) on 37 weeks if my condition is still like this. I'm very worried now and i'm on my 33 weeks. I will go for the blood test tomorrow morning and also have a check up with him. So that i have to fast after 12am until tomorrow morning. Can i drink plain water during this time? I forgot to ask the doctor, so i asked his assistant (the receptionist), she said i even cannot drink plain water, i wonder whether it's true or not. I thought we can drink plain water. I checked from the internet, there are many reasons of excessive amniotic fluid and the peek time will be on 33 weeks - 34 weeks, afterwards it will back to normal level. I wish my condition is like this. I'm really worried now, i'm scared something will happen to my baby and me. Does/did anyone here have this problem during pregnancy? Pls give me some advices and tell me your experiences. I appreciate your response and thank you in advance.

Hi tamara. Happy new year to you too. I do visit my doctor every week, this is required by him. He needs to check my baby condition and the level of amniotic fluid every week, so that he can decide to let me go over 37 weeks. Based on current level of amniotic fluid, he said he cannot let me have full 40 weeks of pregnancy. He needs to take out the baby on 37 weeks. I pray every day that my amniotic fluid level will be back to normal level so that my little angel can get out by himself naturally. Wish me good luck!!! Thanks for your response and concern. Have a good day!!!

Gestational diabetes is not uncommon. And after the baby is born it will probably go away, like it did with a friend of my sister's. I can understand your concern because it can cause some difficulty. I wish the doctor had been more specific with you. If you aren't sure of some things I guess he didn't cover all he should have. I'll be praying for you and your baby!

Your doctor will be testing you for gestational diabetes. All pregnant women are actually in risk of this and as far as I'm informed, it's a must for pregnant women to take this test during your trimester. Do not stress yourself too much of thinking about your situation since it can add up to your anxiety and pregnancy trouble. Relax and pray for you and your baby. And make sure to follow your doctors advise always as they have the medical expertise and they have handles these cases I think a hundred times already. I too have taken this test and was advised to hold on my carbohydrates and sweets specially on my third trimester. If there are things that still trouble you about your pregnancy, express it detailed to your ob-gyne as they have the responsibility to make you feel safe and secured also.

I would not rely on the receptionist I would check with you doctor and it seesm very strange to tell a pregnant woman not to drink.I had my daughter a month early and she is fine a thirty year old mother of two lovely kids so don't worry about that,It you think about it some prem babies are born at twenty five weeks and survive. Please don't worry.

I learned I have excessive fulid last week. I am now 37 weeks. My doctor says that sometimes it is unknown why this happens, but that too much flid is better than not enough fluid. I will find out Thursday if they plan to take my baby a few weeks early. From what I understand having too much fulid can make delivery a little easier :). It is just really hard for us soon to be mom's to carry all that extra weight. Good Luck with your new baby!!!
