How should animals be treated ?

I read about this somewhere today, human relationship with animals and I thought about it. It is really strange! We feed them, we eat them. We play with them, we hunt them. We love them, we restrain them in cages. We cuddle them, we make money from them. We teach them tricks, we build tourisms around them. We breed them, we kill them. We pass legislations to protect them, we conduct painful experiment on them and then kill them. What makes me wonder. Who do we think we are? GOD?
