I became that morning person.

You know those people who are "naturally" cheerful and talkative and optimistic way early in the morning? I used to NOT like them a LOT when I have not had my coffee just yet. They used to make my head hurt. Them and their incessant talking.
The first day of the new year, I became that person. So far, for today, that is. I thought it would not hurt if I do it myself. Better pass on the headaches to the other people in the room. It is the first day of the year!

I am not the morning person, especially in the winter. It is too cold to get up early. And recently, I have insominia. So , in the morning,I am not willing to get up earlier.

I AGREE!!! I cannot even think about dragging my butt out of bed in the winter, until the sun is very high in the sky and it has warmed up at least a little bit. If the sun does not bother to show it's face, half the time I don't bother either, just stay snuggled up in my nice warm bed, hibernating like a bear or something.

Lately, there are times I want to stay and snuggle in bed but my body and mind says I am well-rested and ready to start my day. Sun or no sun. Besides, the sun sometimes shows up in the afternoon here. But it would still be cold.
Thanks you two.

That is because you are using a lot of effort to resist them. When you do not resist what's coming at you it is much easier. Of course it took having kids to teach me this, because their cheerful little faces, and their happy chatter just was soooo darling. Nevertheless, I started letting them stay up at night till I went to bed so that they would not wake up till I was ready to wake up. Although that never really worked all that well with my son... he would stay up till 2Am and be raring to go at 6. I would have to put him in a playpen with toys, blankets, munchies, whatever, and my daughter and I would continue our sleeping. He was never too happy with that arrangement.
These days, he stays up all night and sleeps most of the day... he's finally keeping a schedule that is compatible with mine, took him awhile, but he made it!

Both my kids are in the DC area living with my 2 sisters (and my sister's daughter, who is 8 or 9).
I am staying up here in my brothers 'spare' house, across the street from my mother.
We were on a quest to find the perfect town for us to live in, but they decided to get some training because hopping from town to town and having to look for odd-jobs the minute we get there got real old, and we need more money than odd-jobs provide. They are learning a program called Maya, which is 3D model rendering, or something like that. It's very fun for them and excellent money. After 2 years of schooling my daughter has a job at the Naval Research Labs, and my son has a job lined up at NASA.
I was hanging out up here until they finished, but the plan has changed now. They still have a couple of years to go with the training, but they don't like living with my sisters and I don't like living across the street from my mother so we are going to be getting a place together again.
I don't have as many stories to tell about my daughter because she was always so perfect and well-behaved. My son wasn't.

Well, I can always listen to well-behaved and perfect stories, Ziggy.
Your kids' jobs sure sound intimidating. But if I am an expert on that field, I probably would enjoy it as much.

All that hard work finally worked, huh, Ziggy?
Coffee used to be my antidote to their cheerful rants! And now I still drink coffee in the morning. Still need it but not as the ONLY reason to get up.
Where is your daughter at? I don't hear much about her.

I am by force a morning person. I have to wake up early for my job hour requires it but otherwise I hate to wake up early. I can do all my activities cheerfully at night and I am not just a morning person. Having said this, when I wake up n very rare occasions early in the morning, it feels good. Its just a matter of habit, I guess.

Hello Mimpi! The last few weeks have been hectic... or I made them that way. Today is a day off and I have errands as well as other chores to do. Then it is back to work again and so on. I hope one of these days (not in the next two week though), things will eventually slow down. Thanks for asking. I hope you are no longer in the "slumps".

I am an okay morning person. At least I thought I was but now I'm just used to getting up early... not too early though. I think if I keep going to work at seven in the morning, I will be very cranky at the end of the week.
It does feel good to wake up early just as long as it was to your own liking and your body and brain tells you that it's just alright.
Thanks, mimpi.

I used to be the "naturally cheerful" type person...I would wake up bright eyed and ready to go...drove my Mom nuts. I notice though in the last few years it takes me a little longer to get going. I'm still somewhat perky but not nearly what I used to be.

The weather is getting colder and drearier but the sun makes an appearance every now and then. We do not have snow.
I dream of opening a diner myself but that is just a dream for me. And I don't go around lending money to people I do not know. That is not a joke.
Thanks, jiang.

My husband is bright and cheery in the mornings. I have never been and probably never will be. It takes me some time to get around to even being awake, let alone being happy about it. :) I could very easily work the second shift if I didn't have young children at home as well as their activities in the evening. But good for you that you have become a cheery morning person. It takes a lot of effort.

i know what you mean. I'm also not the morning person.
generally, i won't have headaches but it's just that i don't seem inclined to talk in the mornings. i take a longer time to warm up.
but i must say it's a bad habit to pull on a long face early in the morning & spoil other pple's mood. so it's a good new habit to BE a MORNING SUNSHINE PERSON for the new year!!!

LOL. They are the ones who try to spoil my day by being so loud and cheerful early in the morning.
I think this is going to be my habit for 2009 but we shall see. It is way too early to tell.
Thanks, regal.

Its good to pass on the headaches to others rather than sitting on thems. However, be cautious that you dont end up giving unnecessary headaches to others. So just chillax and enjoy yourselves this new year.

No, I do not think I will intentionally give other people headaches. Unless they really, really annoy me and maybe I will. But I do not think that is such a good thought for the start of the year.
Happy New Year to you too, dropofrain.

hello jiang. you certainly do have a lot of questions there. I believe that many people find tea works best for them than coffee and I think it is so much healthier too. But I am a coffee person, still is but I am slowly liking tea. Thanks for your time!

it is always better to talk rather than sitting quietly and listening to others. though your friends tell you that you are very talkative but still love you for talking. but there should be a limit to your talking , when you don't know about some topic it is always advisable to listen than talking. because at that point you are only going to give headache to others. among the friends witha cup of coffee and hot shot talkings with punch liners added what else your friends would expect from you?...happy new year.

I think I am (or was or still is) that person who wants quiet in the morning. I should say I am a bit meditative (ahem). But so far, things have been okay in the morning for me lately.
Thanks, Sunil. Happy New Year to you too!

I have been the morning person myself and still am compared to my fiance. If we haven't got much sleep and are disturbed in the early morning, I'm the one happy and cheerful. I won't say I am all the time, but who is? I guess it can be a headache to hear the cheerful chipper of a early bird but I guess there also happier too.

There are times when I wonder how much sugar that chirper has so early in the morning.
There is nothing wrong with being happy and cheerful and I guess it is a good thing to be that way when you wake up.
Thanks for responding, SomeCowgirl and regards to your fiance.

Hey anne! Well, stay away from me! I am not and will never
be that morning person~! I used to get up very early for
work and I still didn't like to talk or be annoyed first
thing in the morning even when I had no other choice! I
had to answer the phone all cheerfully and that was not fun!
My boyfriend is on of THEM! He doen't shut up in the morning!
I try to pretend that I am sleeping so that he won't talk to
me! If he thinks I'm awake there's no shutting him up! And
when I want to talk at night, since we are opposites he doesn't
want to hear me and tells me to shut up! Nice huh?

That is interesting I too was a morning person on the first day of the new year. My very first thought this morning was that I wanted to go out and take my son sledding. Unfortunately he was teething today, and his cranky attitude said NO WAY! So we stayed in, and my energy level went down. I hope tomorrow I'll wake up with that same energy and excitement for the day.

So were you still a morning person three days later, glords?
How's the teething son? I would love to experience sledding. I have never done that, I think.
Thanks, glords.
