There are some shops which do not permit bargaining and have fixed prices, while in some shops, you will be fleeced if you do not bargain. They will quote exhorbitant prices and wait for yo to bargain. After a lot of haggling, te final price is arrived at and you go home satrisfied that yougot a very good bargain and the shop keeper too is satisfied tha the has been able to sell the item at a good price. Isn't it great? Both parties feel good.

I'm not very good at bargaining, so I often prefer to shop in malls, where the prices are fixed and displayed. However, my husband is good at this, so whenever we go to shops or the flea markets, I would leave the bargaining to him.

i'm not good at bargaining things but i like to get things at low cost, but some times it's difficult to convince some shop keepers they are really tough to deal with.in such case i just give up some are rally nasty they talk what ever they like...but actual problem is that to which rate i have to bargain ,im confused about it ,if its too low or reasonable....

Bargaining is expected at some open markets but not in shops in my country. I noticed that bargaining is popular in Tunisia. YOu have to bargain every shop that you enter. I prefer having a fixed reasonable prices instead of bargaining.

I love to bargain in shops. It is so satisfying to get a good deal. I also love to shop the bargain racks at stores - the 50 - 75% off racks. What a deal!

only the smart can do this trick............. and i do it, a shopkeeper always sells with a profit and its rest in your hand how much he earns and how much you gain

I do. If I'm not sure that how many the price is reduced by,i would guess it's purchase price is the price of 60 percent and so on.Due to lack of experience, the price of some thing is still unworthy in value.

Yes, I love bargaining. There are stretches of streets here in Calcutta where there are rows and rows of shops on footpaths which sell everything and you can really bargain your heart out. I have been visiting these shops since my childhood with my parents and you can say that more than half of our household items comes from these shops. I have compared the quality of most everyday items sold here with the same things sold at high-end shops and there’s no difference. The main thing is that high-end shops have high establishment costs in the way of salaries and electricity bills and rent and so on. But these temporary shops on the footpaths don’t have any extra cost so they pass on that benefit to the customers. So I visit the high-end shops only for special shopping or if I am looking for something in particular to gift to somebody. Other than that the footpath shops are a heaven for us.

I love to bargain at shops. the best part about bargaining is that it helps me in saving money which is my hard earned cash. Bargaining helps to give the right price for the product. As correctly said that it gives a satisfaction at last that you have not spent higher amount than worth it.

Stores that allow bargaining initially set the price high so that they can make you feel like you actually got a sale when you are able to bargain at half the price - when in reality, that 'half price' is still quite very high for a 'bargain'. I've experienced this in even the cheapest stores here in the Philippines - my sister bought a blouse for P450 in a supposedly cheap stored but when I saw the same merchandise in a supposedly expensive store, it was only sold for P300. The cheap store offered it for P600 at first, then the bargaining stopped at P450 as the 'last price'. Thanks for the comment on my discussion!

yes, i do. here in china we have to bargain cos this is a practice. the shop owners would mark up the price and wait for buyers to bargain. no one pay the 1st price that the shop owner quoted. even in supermarts, despite the fixed price, we would always asked if there are any special offers or promotions for the products as sometimes they do not display them and wait for you to ask for it. we saved some money that way

Bargaining is a must and essential. Ok this may happen that the shopkeeper will not give you a discount on bargaining but on the other way if he gives some discount then it will be profit to you which you have earned just by doing a little 2 minute conversation.

i love it especially in antique shops. when i was in the antique buisness i kept a code marked on everything so i'd know what i paid for it. we could just bargain away. i expected people to do that to me & i did it when i was out looking. it's just part of it.

I don't like to bargain in shops, if the price is not right, I just won't buy it. If the price is right, bargaining is greed; if the price is not right, the shop is not honest. I'd rather use my debating skills on some better issues than lowering the price for a few cents or a few dollars. Well, I noticed that some of my friends can really bargain well and they enjoy bargaining. It's not about the money, it's about a game. Yes, I can understand bargaining can be great, it's just not my game. ^^

I do like to bargain however it is hard to find a shop that will accept that. Most shop keepers do not like to bargain anymore because they are in such tough competition with the larger chain stores now. The profit margin for most stores is also super low so that is why so many fail when the economy goes downhill. Some stores will barter. I actually read an article that Best Buy was bartering with cusotmers to get the business.

yes we do normally the sellers have a tendency to fix price more than the margin of profit. it is the customer who is taken for a ride in price. when he/she seller accept our bargain price this shows that they are ready to sell it at the said price with earning a profit. this tells the story behind bargain hope you agree with me dear
