I don't watch horror movies at all (except accidentally). the last really horrible movie I saw was Doomsday. I'm not even sure if that classifies as a horror movie, but I found it pretty horrifying. If I were going to watch horror movies (which I'm not), I certainly wouldn't do it alone. That would be enough to give me nightmares for a week.

The first horror movie I ever saw I was alone.
I didn't know anything about it and from the title I thought it was a comedy. This was back in the day's when we had drive in theaters. I was working full time, going to school full time. I thought I'd take a night off from both and just take myself to a funny movie.
Boy was I in for a surprise! Then it turned out to be a double feature. I got through the first one so I stayed for the second one. For a newbie to the genre it was the second one that scared the *#(& out of me! It was the first Alien movie with Sigourney Weaver. Right at one of the scary parts some guy comes up and knocks on my car window & I about jumped out of my skin. He was collecting donations for the blind. I felt foolish about the way I'd jumped and screamed so I gave him all of the little money had left on me.
I've watched a bunch since then mostly on my own, safe in my own little home with no one to unexpectedly scare me.
