Wikipedia is the most common source. But if you browse carefully, there are legitimate sites that could provide useful knowledge in each field. What site do you trust most? Do you rely also on wikipedia? Do you still use the library? Why or why not?

I like to search the information via the net much more. I can find more information in a short time without any fees. This is the advantage of the internet. I don't like going to the library because the books are old and dirty there. And they have a fixed time and it's so inconvenient. I love China

Sure, the public libraries are available. But I just don't like going there because I don't want to adjust to their time. It's not convenient for me.

I'm not that keen on the library now that we have the good old Internet! I do love books, I will always have a passion for those! I think that the Internet is a good source of information though. I think that you are perfectly safe just as long as you have a good antivirus program on your computer. I think that the Internet is very reliable in terms of gaining knowledge and staying updated with new information. Andrew

It is a good source of information as long as your site is trusted. You have to discern the good and the bad site. Thanks for that vital input.

Wikipedia can be a source, but I rely more on reputable encyclopedias wherein you can get the comprehensive information or areas of knowledge needed. These are also available in the internet. I think, we still need to go to the libraries for other references we need. Like me, I still go to libraries because there are local articles I need that are not available in the internet. Happy New Year!

i use the internet more than the libraries. As a matter of fact, i usually mostly use e-journals for my reports. I get these articles from ebscohost, factiva or other paid (by the uni though) legitimate and credible sources. Wiki is fun to read and good for personal knowledge but i won't take them 100%. Simply because it's shared by fellow users like you and me.

Library.. because in the internet, you are unsure if the source is legit or not.. books are more reliable sources as they are carefully compiled by the authors..

Wikipedia is okay for additional research, but I usually look up things at more than that site online. For one, they have articles that are acurate about a topic but are in danger of being deleted as someone else thought it wasn't for some reason or another. Another problem is they are not very complete and you can't add anything unless they deem it important, even if you can find the topic in an internet search--which is why I'm considering starting a new encyclopedia about other more precise topics. I also prefer reading books as it is easier on my eyes and reading stuff online can give me a headache and make me sick. Also it's actually easier to find a topic that's factual than trying to search the internet for a topic.

only when i stepped into college did i appreciate the library. Our professors would want reports coming from books and they would get the references. The internet was not allowed so we had to really find books and look for articles which we need.. It's hard but at the same time you learn. The internet can be a good source of information but not all informations are factual or true

I use the internet as it's so quick and easy....but I don't have to look up things that are important....general info mostly. I have heard though that the libraries are really busy these days with people checking out more books etc..

Several years ago, I prefer to read in libraries rather than read on line ,because at that time ,computers are not so popular, and it is a little hard for me to own my own computer. But now, I found myself rely on computers more and more, it also lead to the result that I am lazy to go to the liabrary, what I do when I what to find some information is to surf on line, maybe that is really not very good.

I search for information more in the internet now due to easy access to huge amount of information but I still trust libraries more because when it comes to details libraries are still best...Wikipedia is one site I first turn to for any kind of information...have a nice day!

I use my school's encyclopedia's because they're free, well they're included in our tuition. They're so much more reliable than Wikipedia. I do like going to the library sometimes though because usually teachers always require a book source rather than using everything from the internet.

I use the internet more than the library. The problem with wikipedia is that the articles there are just submitted by users, which means they may or may not be accurate. I do use wikipedia but if my research requires accuracy, I double check it on official sites about the topic. Happy new year.

I would say to use a good mix of both. Initially finding information can be MUCH quicker on the internet, but I think it would be a good idea to verify most things using books. The internet it awesome, I use it all the time to find generally useless information, but if I were doing something that had to be absolutely acurate, I would use the internet sparsely and rely mostly on books.

I use the internet a lot and most of my researches are from the internet. However, if my school will just update the library with current books and resource materials, the library is probably better than the internet. I do use wikipedia at times and it is useful when you just want to know basic facts but I don't however really recommend this because it is not that reliable. It is best to check on other sources as well.
