after getting teh champion of the champions award, manny has another blessing in his life.
his fourth child whom he named Queen Elizabeth.
no pun intended on my opinion BUT i just find it hard why he would name his baby Queen Elizabeth.
is this his way of saying that Ricky Hatton is next in line to be his opponent?
i hope he's not bragging about it.

I understand Manny Pacquiao naming his daughter Queen Elizabeth as tantamount to honouring the Queen. Us, Filipinos, for your information, love to name our children after the people whom we idolize or adore. From conception, the parents are already choosing names for their child... if it's a boy, this would be the name... if it's a girl, this would be the name... isn't that the way parents in your respective places plan for baby names?
Giving names of their own children is a prerogative as well as a privilege for both parents, and they understand the responsibility added into it. Most Filipinos love to give names attached to royalties, not because they would like them to be royalties when they grow up, but because each baby has his or her own charm that they find extraordinary. Giving names such as princess, lady, queen, earl, king, and so on and so forth, even if they are considered to be below poverty line, are parents' outlet of saying their child is very special, delicate, and deserves all the goodness they could afford to give.
Besides, I look at people who ridicule others' names as insecure and narrow-minded.
In pinoy term... "Inggit lang sila".
No offense meant on anyone.
Have a nice day.

hahaha thanks for the add my friend. to tell you the truth, i consider my true name ridiculus too that's why i insist on using aileen. when i was a child, i was ridiculed because of my name, that is why i have carefully chosen the names of my children for fear of history repeating itself. now that i am working, i needed to get used to being called by my true name, i have no choice. but at least now, i am more mature to accept it. there is an option for me to change my name but it really costs a fortune and i cannot afford it. there is one good thing about my name though. when i apply for clearances, i get hold of them easily because nobody has the same name as mine...yet.

none taken. lol. very well said, aileen.
i remember before, my father told me that my name is not suppose to be my name. he wants to name me "December" for that was my birth month.
but my grandfather insisted on naming me my name now because he doesn't want me to be ridiculed and my father defended himself that he only wants me to name that name he desires because it's unique, not common and it's his way of honoring the month i was born to.
and i see your point.
nice that someone - there's a two of you actually - is on the different side for this discussion. =) cheers on that! hny, Aileen! =)

Hahahaha! Thanks for the info, actually i didn't see or hear manny's interview with dyan. Yes, you're right, it's the closest to the truth that's oftentimes overlooked. Like in exams, people tend to overlook the simplicity of the problem that in trying to make their answers complicated, they end up failing the exams.

I guess Manny Pacquiao watched the film "Elizabeth" and " Elizabeth the Golden Age". Perhaps, this has prompted him to name her youngest as Queen Elizabeth. But do you know that naming a child is somewhat deciding the fate of the child. According to Dr. Eric Berne, the prominent psychiatrist in life scripting, naming a child is like suggesting to him the very course of life that he should be doing.
This is the same as those with name Jesus who end up having a savior complex or Maria with Virgin complex. Perhaps, Manny would like to name her child as she is because for one thing, Elizabeth is a virgin queen and she might not want her child to have suitors. Also, in the present day Elizabeth, Her Highness seems to be alienated with his husband who is Prince Philip (I do not know if my stock knowledge is correct). We came to conclude that Queen Elizabeth is somewhat having no husband because england only has a queen instead of a King.
But so much for that, I guess naming Queen Elizabeth is something odd, he should have not put the title, but Elizabeth jus seems to be more appropriate.

hi, fine. very, very, very well putted. you read a lot of books.
i never thought manny would think that way because i reacted on impulse that's why this discussion is born. lol
but now that you've shared your idea - a profound one - maybe Manny has a lot that we don't know about him. i guess he's still a mystery.
cheers, fine! HNY! =)

it's okay... no harm done with my name =0
yes, maybe because manny is already very popular all over the world, he might be thinking he deserves to have a name like those of the same prestige. i mean, why would he settle for simple names like the normal ones, if he can have those name with "elite" impressions. ooppsss,, this is just my opinion. nothing against Filipino names, okay. ? =)

Maybe Manny thought, that if there is a named Princess , why not use Queen? hhahahhaa... What do you think totallyundecided? :))
Instead of Queeny which I already heard this name before, might use Queen for being Queen in their family I guess, lol just my opinion...... (wink)

i am glad that in this discussion - there's a pro and an anti. makes me happy to respond all of your comments because each of you gave me a learning through your answers.
our opinion varies really but i could say a lot of us here in the philippines was surprised when he named his daughter QE but it's his right and it's his baby.
my uncle was really shaking his head when he heard the news. lol.
and we can't do anything about it so let's see how this goes. =)
hny, amazingheart!!! cheers to you!

Well, Pacquiao is someone to be looked up to in the world of boxing, but he sure got many more people looking upon him now after naming his daughter Queen Elizabeth! Now I don't know if you have the same sentiments as I do, but does Pacquiao want to build an empire? Naming his kids like Princess and Queen Elizabeth and winning all games adds to his money pile and running for a government position, it sure does looks like it, doesn't it?

lol. i don't know. that was not in my mind. but after hearing him naming his daughter QE - i've been receiving a lot of Manny Pacquiao jokes regarding about his being "baduy".
thanks for the post, jm. cheers to you! hNY!!!

Yeah, I also thought that naming his daughter Queen Elizabeth is baduy. Well, what can we do? It's his daughter and not ours so it's his right to name her whatever he likes.

LoL... That news really made me laughed. Wonder what will be the name of their next daughter/son.
You see, this attitude is very Filipino. Don't mean to insult them or what, they have every right as a parent, but hey don't think their child will love the idea? Don't think so.. Just an opinion..

Hi totallyundecided. How's Cebu? Well, I have watched the news and it was one of the top stories being broadcast on Philippine Television. I also can't believe why they will name in Queen Elizabeth. Can we be more unique here? Even the baby's name has a touch of being famous. Anyway, it's their baby, not mine, so I guess if it will make them happy, i don't have anything else to say.

ahahaha! thanks for the invite, january
Cebu is fine though where experiencing rains but still good.
yes, i have to agree with you on that, it's their baby but i wish he could have thought more. just to be considerate when the baby grows up. lol

I don't think he named his daughter Queen Elizabeth because he wants to challenge Hatton next. In an interview before, he said that he already has a princess (his third child and first daughter), so now he wants a queen. You have to understand that the name is pretty cool for people from his background. He hasn't always been the classy guy anyway. :)

i see. thanks for that info. so that's why he's in a hurry to have another baby. LOL. so that he can have a queen.

Well, people say it's just a name but many people are raising their eyebrows over this Queen Elizabeth name. No comment from me. I hope the child will like her name when she grows up. Lol!!!!! Happy New Year!!!

Oh well, that is their choice but if that's my child I will never choose that name it is because it has no significance in our life, I mean the real Queen Elizabeth has nothing to do with their new baby or any importance with their life. They rather named her Queen or Elizabeth not Queen Elizabeth.

i don;t know what Manny plans but i think he has this idea that once QE will receive the news that a champion from the Philippines name his child after - that he will be knighted? lol

he has given this name to her because if she will not become queen then still people will call her queen elizabeth. like the famous shakespere said whats there in the name?so it doesn't matter. and like the other member mentioned that flilippinos wants to give their child an american or a british name so this name is not a big deal or a point to be discussed. is it?

not really but like what i said, no pun intended on opinions. we all have our own opinions but in some cases like Manny - he happens to have a household name so whatever he does - there will always be a critic - people may get to wonder, ask or judge him.
and it's his right to give such name to his chid. just want to know what's on everyone's mind.
cheers, sunil. =)

i was thinking the same thing when i saw it on tv.. i can't help but relate it to Ricky Hatton.
oh well, its his right to name the kid, but if i was the one named Queen Elizabeth, i'll change it the minute i have the chance to, maybe scrap the "queen" hehehe..

no. he is not bragging about it. Manny Pacquiao is an intelligent man & a thinking man. Deep in his heart, he named her daughter as Queen Elizabeth because he wants her daughter to be a strong powerful woman like her namesake
