Are people too distant with each other these days? I'm always cautious, I was from the city so I think city life made me that way. But now I'm married and settled and I live far from the city. The place I live in is as country as you can get! I've been working in the same place the past 5 years and people there still comment about me being a very cautious person! I always lock my car when I get in or out, always lock my house, never be without a dog or two, and generally I'd be careful when I'm out and about shopping n stuff. Do you think it's bad to be too cautious? Are we distancing from each other a bit too much? Somethimes it's hard to know. Happy New Year all! ;0)

I have always been a friendly person. I never knew a stranger and would talk to anyone. As I have aged I have began to change the way I approach people. Why? Because the world is becoming a much more violent place. The things that happen everyday in the news would make anyone question people they meet.I feel it is important to be cautious. Cautious does not mean to shut yourself out away from others it means use common sense when approaching someone new. It is human to want to meet and form friendships. It is unhealthy to live in fear. There for we must find a medium a way to be safe but also live a healthy full life. Meet new people in a friendly but cautious way. Meet in public places and do not be lead off by someone you hardly know. Always be nice to others. Smile even if you are having a bad day. Many people are set off by the attitude they received from another. If you get a bad vibe about someone politely excuse yourself. Get away from them and then do not have further contact. Always trust your instinct. If you feel you should not do something then don't!

Yeah, I agree with you that people are more distant with each other these days. I still remember that when I was very young, many people lived in a large yard and we live in harmony with each other. But now, we just lock ourselves in our own home and lose contact with each other, I really don't like this kind of feeling.

I dont think a person can ever be too cautious. Better to be safe than sorry I think. I am like you I am a bit cautious to everyone, you have to be though. I work hard for my things and I'll be damned if anyone takes them from me...LOL My brother in law alwasy gets rippd off, its sad because its his friends that are doing it to him and he knows it but he cant pinpoint which one. Things like that just reinforce my way of thinking.
