right time to collect blood from diabetic rats ?

I am searching on plant medicine,with the subject of diabet,in diabetic rats.I want to know the correct time to collect blood from rats,and when I should stop giving food to rats?

I don't know the procedure for rats but people take their blood first thing in the morning and 2-3 hours after eating. They eat every 3 hours mini meals as well.
