2009: Did You Make Any New Year's Resolutions?

Yes, I did and it will probably take a full year or beyond to fulfill, if ever. Besides losing two pounds a week I'll be working on doing everything the Disciple Peter told us to do in his first letter. Chapter 2 if you're interested (It's do-able but definitely an ongoing process). Soooo, did you make any promises this year? Will you keep them? I guess, we should at least try.

Hello, yes I made one for this year in fact it is the same one that I make every year...lol that goes to show how well I stick to them. But this year is different and I'm going to keep it. Every year I keep saying that I am going to lose weight and I just never seem to get motivated to do it. The first I told my self that I was going to lose at least 20 pounds and that was after I had my son but instead I gained the 20 pounds and so on and so on. But because I did not follow through each year I have gained an extra 120 pounds so this is the year I want to lose at least 115 pounds. If I can lose more that would be great but I'm not pushing it. What gets me though is that I am not big but then I was told that muscle weighs more and that is not fair. But yeah I have done really good so far since yesterday. I in fact have not been tempted by junk food. Although I want it but I'm not going to eat it. So I wish my self luck in this tough journey of mine.

Good luck, Seppy. I'm right there with you. In an attempt to lose some weight I'm adding more fruit to my diet. Anyhow, good luck and all that.

Good Luck!! My New Years resolution last year was to start eating right and I lost 10 pounds (of course it didn't last but it does prove that by eating right you do lose weight) Anyways, I hope you keep your resolution!! :)

Hello gtargirl!
I have never made any resolution(s) for the past few years. Well, that includes 2009. I have never really been good in keeping my resolutions. I don't think I have ever been successful at it. For the past few years, instead of resolutions, I have something I call a lifeplan. It is a list of things I plan to do for the rest of the year. So far, I am more successful at this.

actually, I'm fun of making new year's resolution but this year, i don't think so. for how many years I've tried to fulfill my new year's resolution but for a thousand times i failed. sure it's my fault for not having the strength and courage but I'm tired of giving myself a falls hope of everything i promised, of course to myself. but ooohh. don't get me wrong. i do promised to people and i do what I've promised except to myself. so i won't promised anything this year, Ill just try to do it without promising it so in the end i won't break any resolution especially to myself.
hapyy new year.

I guess the secret would to not get upset when you don't follow through with a resolution. But if you break it one day, just try to continue on the next day. I do understand what you're saying Jacobert. In any case, I hope you have a wonderful and blessed new year.

I have resolved to use my reusable grocery bags more consistently and to cut way down on cokes. I had started with the grocery bags in December and I'm doing pretty well with it so far, although I have had to go back out to the car to get them more than once. Also, I have pledged to spend at least 30 minutes per day decluttering my house.
I am committed to all of these and intend to do my best to make them happen. Good luck everyone!

I did make one but it is of a personal matter and I would rather keep it to myself, but so far I am doing okay with it, and that is wonderful, for me at least.
I wish you all the best with yours as well.

To be honest, I don't, but after 2008 turning out like it did, I felt the best thing to do was to write down the plans that I want for this year and work towards those goals. Trust me, after losing two jobs, no unemployment or savings, depending on surveys, handouts, mystery shopping jobs to get by, and almost losing my food stamps so close to Christmas, I have had to make sure that for the most part, this year is a more productive year. I want to take an online course(well, two one in tax preparation and medical transcriptionist) a couple of courses to help me get into Nursing School, a better job, a new car, more streams of income(something I have been working on and though I feel that this is a bit off, maybe work on a place of my own. And give my mother some money on a regular basis.

I would love to get married too. Unfortunately, there seems to be no chance of that right now. Sigh. Maybe one day. In any case, I sure hope it all goes well for you, my friend. Have a great year.

The term "New Year's resolution" has negative connotations so I prefer to just call them goals :) I've set myself 4 specific goals for this year. They're printed out and stuck on my wall next to my study timetable lol -_- I have one relating to education, one to finance, one to business and one to health.
Some people don't like to set goals, but they're usually the ones who spend the year watching reality television and then complain that they don't have enough time to get anything done. I dare you all to kick your own a$$ and set yourself just one nice SMART goal...
Specific
Measurable
Attainable
Realistic
Timely

My son is trying to gain weight healthily too. Apparently it's as difficult as trying to lose it. Well, good luck, my friend. It's a good plan.

My New Year's Resolution is to focus on building relationships. I figure sharpening my listening skills and learning how to make new friends and develop a stronger bond with them is a worthwhile thing for me to do. Good luck with losing two pounds a week (that sounds like hard work! I think that's great because I know I couldn't do it!) and I think trying to do what Peter says is a great goal as well (one that I'll probably try as well)

I really have not made any New years resolutions this year. It seems like a waste to me because I never stick to them anyway. There are a few things that I would really like to accomplish this year but I didn't make a resolution of them. I figured i would be more likely to accomplish them if I don't make a resolution out of them. Good luck with your resolutions. I hope you can stick with them.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I wasn't really going to make any resolutions either but I thought I really needed some discipline, so I did it anyway. Thanks for stopping by AprilSue. Hope you have a fantastic day.

I did not make any New Year's Resolutions. I have to continue the ones I made the years before like losing weight, writing more on my novel, not spending money on junk, not eating too many candies. I do read the Bible in the am and evening, but I forgot I do have one. A future in-law told me I look 58( I am 65) and I attribute that to my worrying because I thought I had cancer, my husband's stroke, and my diabetes and not getting enough sleep. So now I have made a promise to not worry so much and put everything in God's hands.

Hi There! Good Evening!
Yes, I promised myself that I would never ever be late on my work starting on Monday. Last year, I was always coming in the office late. It started when I later knew that I am not getting interested in what I do with my work. The company is okay but I don’t like my job there but I was trying to like it really… but until one morning, I started getting late… lolz… and I feel kind of guilty being late so this New Year, I will try not to be late! Second New Year’s resolution is to make sure that I will do everything if I plan something. Third, I will try to lose pounds little by little because I am getting fat. Lastly, once I get the job that I want this year, I promise to be serious in my work to earn and save money for myself.
Those are my simple New Year’s resolution for this year… I don’t want to list other resolutions for I fear I will not be able to do it… I listed 10 resolutions last year and guess what, I forgot all of them… lolz… so there… !
Thanks for the discussion. Happy Mylotting! Cheers!

This may sound pessimistic, but I think my New Years Resolution is to not expect anything good to happen for me. I tend to try and keep my hopes up about things only to get those hopes trampled on. So, I want to look everyday in the face knowing that nothing good is going to happen for me and then if it happens that something good does happen then I will be surprised and if something good doesn't happen then I won't be disappointed.
