hey there, well, i dont know what's wrong with some people here on mylot. I started a discussion which was about a site which pays for reviews. And it was a new site and not everybody here knew about it. this way i would also have got some referrals. I started that discussion and i told everyone to send their email address so that i can send them the invitation. I got so many positive response from mylotters that they are interested to join.... BUT.. there were few people who were commenting on the discussion and saying thing's like "it is not a secret now, you dont need to join under anyone". I mean what's wrong with them. I dint harm them in anyway and they were trying that i should not get referrals and also give the choice to some people to make some extra dollars. There were a lot of responses who wanted them not to join as my referral. I mean can you guys tell me did this kind of thing happened to you? when you started a discussion which gives you money or referral? Share your experience and how do you deal with all this...

If you had not actually posted the referral link then I am not sure. I do believe that they may have been a bit touchy because you were asking for the emails for referring instead of instructing them to follow to your profile for the link and information. Making money and referrals is a touchy subject on here, some people are notorious with scamming and a lot of people don't believe newbies or those to whom present themself in a way that makes them think it is a scam. How excited you may have been, might have given people the thought of it being a over eager scammer. I'm not sure if that is their thoughts though so please do not assume.

Thanks for the information. I never ask for referrals, and am not saying that you did - just making a comment from my view point - anyway referrals are a waste of my time. Most think it's something they'd rather not get into. I only help an ocassional friend that I know, by becoming 'their' referrall. And too - a lot of these supposed 'money makers' sites, have so much content and goings on within them, that I'm just not into searching it all out. I like MyLot, because it's simple, easy, and set up perfectly. That's just my 2 cents worth C. C.

hey somecowgirl! i agree with you. But people can atleast mind their own thing if they think that is a scam. They should not make comments against the discussion. Anyways thanks alor for your response

You should understand that if mentioning 'referral' and 'money' in the same sentence, one should be very careful as this is most likely MLM marketing which is synonymous with "pyramiding". They probably know this, and that is what is "wrong" with them.

Some people think that as a referral you are paying some of the money you earn directly to the person who referred you. They don't realise that none of their earnings go to you - all that they earn goes to them. The money you get as the referrer is extra money paid by the site to you to thank you for getting extra members.

I think its kind of rude to ask for referrals on a forum.

i never asked anyone to be my referral. I tried to tell people who dint knew about that website. And then if they are interested then i will send them the invitation so that i also have some advantage of it. If they simply join wothout being referred or even if they join under a referral, in both cases they wont loose anything. That will be considered my reward for letting them know. Anyways thanks for responding

There will always be people that read out of context, don't get your buttons in a bunch out of it. You introduced a site, stated if they were interested to send you their e-mail. There was no harm in that. I find this a curious place really and I think people tend to jump on an assumption rather than find facts or read the entire thread before they pop off. Hope you put the link on your profile, I know people usually get referrals through them. I guess anytime you put something out there in public like here, you're going to have the bad with the good. Take the good out of it and walk on.
