Do You Enjoy Trying New Foods?

Are you a person who enjoys trying new food, or do you prefer to stick with the tried and true foods you are used to eating? I like to try new things once in a while, but my husband refuses to. I think he is just afraid that he may like it.

I have the same situation as you. The hubby refuses to try new stuff, excpet once per year at our anniversary. Other than that, he wants to know what everything is before he will eat it, and often he will refuse to eat something I have made. I have taken to tricking him into eating something a few times and then when I give him something with that food in it and he doesn't want to I say, well you ate the (whatever it was) and liked that, which is not so different from this, so just try it. I cut spinach up really small and he though it was parsely flakes, until he came into the kitchen one time and caught me doing it. The big baby.

My husband will not eat anything that has any condiment on it, no ketchup, no mustard, no mayo, no pickles. He will not eat anything with barbeque sauce, he will not eat anything like potatoe or macaroni salad. He is very picky and wants everything plain. I told him that I think that his New Year resolution should be to try different kinds of food. I used to really love cooking, but he has taken much joy out of it with his pickiness.

I'd be satisfied if he would try something new at last once a year. I don't neccessarily want to go out, but I can cook something different for him here at home.

Then make it a tradition that he can agree to one day once a year dedicated to you expressivng your devotion to him by preparing a food that you think he will enjoy, and him expressing his devotion to you by agreeeing to TRY the food. If he doesn't like itm you guys can go out or whatever. If he doesn't like it, you will not take offense, but only if he gives it an honest try. If communicated properly, this can be a beautiful ritual the two of you perform to strengthen and reaffirm your relationship as well as learn and grow as people.

I am sure you are right about that. I am trying to eat morer fruit and vegetables and less of the things that aren't as healthy, as well as adding more exercise into my days. I am hoping this will help my reduce my weight also.

There are a lot of things you could probably try that would help you in your diet.

As long as it doesn't have fish or seafood in it, I'm generally willing to try almost anything, and I've loved a lot of it! Even when I was traveling I would just master the words for seafood and fish, ask the server or counterstaff what DIDN'T have those things in it, and then randomly point. Only once was I ever disappointed (in Spain, ordering a Bocadilla de Tortilla Espanola, or Omelette Sandwich, which was very bland). Growing up, my mom wouldn't cook a lot of things because she didn't like them (anything with feta, eggplant, curry, yogurt, dumplings, perogies, lamb, etc.) so I didn't really get to try anything new until I was on my own. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that Moussaka (with eggplant) was amazing, and that curried Indian food is now one of my favorite ethnic foods. We always had a set rotation of foods we had every month and rarely tried anything new. Even with chinese food.. my parents still order the same dishes that they ordered 10 years ago. Now I'm back to square 1 with my boyfriend. He has a list of food dislikes that sometimes seems a mile long, and while I am salivating over the idea of a tasty Beef Vindaloo, he's wondering how you pronounce it, and whether it's wise to eat something you can't pronounce. Argh.

Hi, I enjoy a lot trying new food, as I love exploring the vast world of foods. I specially like trying new sweet dishes, and also different type of soups, etc. Many people, including my brother, are afraid from trying new food and they just stick to their daily schedules of food, but everyone have their own choices, you know.

I agree, to each his own. I enjoy trying new things because it may end up being the best food I ever ate. I wouldn't know if I didn't try it.

I like trying new foods but most times I prefer sticking to the ones I've tried because I like them for a reason I'm alson not a big fan of veggies, seafood, soy sauce and a few other things so that narrows down the choices

Even though you limit what you may try, at least you do try new things.

Well like i enjoy trying new food and different ways of cooking, the same old comfort foods that we all like. The guy i a living eats any thing i cook and is always asking when am i going to cook some thing different,it is a good thing he is like this because he would starve because i cook what i like and want.I have redone some many very day foods my kids are calling and asking mama what are you cooking tonight.

Isn't it nice to be appreciated like that? I am glad at least some people do not have to have a bland menu. I used to cook all sorts of things, that was many years ago.

Yeah, my husband is the same way. He doesn't really like to try new things. I still try to introduce new things into our lives, and every now and again he will try it (and like it---why would I try to get him to eat something nasty?) but sometimes he just tries to be stubborn and not try things just to be difficult.

I wish my husband would try different things. I am sure he would like them. It makes our meals so boring when he is so stubborn.
