I never had formal lessons in typing but i type pretty fast without looking at the keys. I'm not how you call this but i'm using my index fingers more than any fingers. So i guess that makes me a "push one key at a time" typer. But because of the speed it feels like i'm typing a lot of keys in one finger. I don't usually rest my fingers on "F" and "J". I'm quite familiar with my keyboard so i kind of know where my fingers will drop. Sometimes it's not accurate though but i press the backspace fast too hehe..
Maybe my typing skill was developed back then when i was so hooked in chatting that i keep chatting all day and lots of people at a time so i guess there pressure of replying as soon as possible contributed to my speed right now. I'm having difficulties with the punctuation marks though.

Hi, I am one of those who knows where the keys are but never been able to type too fast. I broke a couple of fingers so they do not like to work fast when I am typing. I also enrolled in a typing course but I have not practiced for a couple months. Good luck on your typing lessons.

I am good at typing approx 30-35 words per minute and that was a good speed for me.
As i am a student of Engineering it is required for me that my speed should be good enough because while coding it needs a speed otherwise the whole day will be waisted
I would like to tell you that I have learned typing of my own without joining any classes.just before 1 years. It is though a software tutor Name "Typing Master" you can search this software on any torrent and download it. it is very easy and just like playing a game............
do it you will definitely improve......
Have a great day

Not so great I say. I have a considerable skill over it but it's not something I'll be doing for a very long time, so it's not really important for me. I used to type good enough, but it's gotten a bit bad with some factors. This old keyboard of mine has lost it's softness so it keeps bouncing back without typing the letter. So having a lot of typos lately.

I type faster because I practiced a lot back in college. But I don't do it properly. I only use two or three fingers t type hehe. No one notices of course because no one really watches me while I type but if you stand behind me for a while, you'll definitely see that I don't type the proper way. Thanks for sharing this info I might go check out my typing speed soon!

I think the best way to learn typing is to use some typing tutor, like the one you said you practiced on online. Few years back whenever i use to see someone typing fast without even looking at the keyboard i use to feel so jealous and i wanted to be like that. I worked on it and i use to type everything without looking and in the beginning there were alot of mistakes but as I practiced more and more. Now i am one of those who dont need to look at the keyboard and type really fast. You should try those tutor and type alot here on mylot without looking at the keyboard. Even if there are mistakes dont bother correct them that too without looking at the keys and type. I think that will increase your speed of typing and make you a perfect typist.

Hi, I am also not a good keyboard user, but my work demands it. At first, i didn't even know how to use a keyboard, but regular practice of specific typing tutor made my typing a bit more professional, the tutor which i used was Mavis, it was Mavis 4 i think, now i do type with a speed of 50 to 60 words per min, but even that is slow and still not efficient with all the keys. Keep on practice

I learned to touch type back in high school and can type pretty fast. Not as fast as most but faster than anyone else in my house that is for sure. It is what I'm trained to do for employment (transcriptionist/office work)so faster is better as long as I'm accurate. The best way to gain speed is just to practice, preferable using the same keyboard each time, or same computer type, cause keyboards can vary in size and getting used to a new keyboard each time can be frustrating.

Me, I think i do have a average typing skill, my typing speed is 40-50 words per minute and my accuracy is around 90% to 95%, i'd improved my typing skills practicing in Typing Master.

I not good at typing either. I can type withou looking at the keyboard, but the speed of my typing is not fast enough. I aso want to to a super tyer with an amazing type speed.
But I think we can not increase out type speed if our job is not related to type. I strongly believe practice make perfect. If we are typers in our job, there is no doubt that we can improve our type speed greatly.

I'm not very good in typing but im not a slow also in typing.. I first had my typing lesson in college where we had two (2) subjects, one was for beginner and the other for the speed typing..aside from typing subjects.. Typing subjects was our pre-requisite for the computer subjects..

Yes, actually, I'm very proficient at typing. Used to do it for a living many, many moons ago. It is fun. I've always enjoyed it so my speed is very fast and accuracy is right up there too. I do get on the net and practice quite often. Just to keep my fingers in sync. After a while the keyboard becomes an extension of you. Keep at it.

Really great question to ask. I am not sure how I learn how to type. I guess from computer class I had at school. They even had this program in my afterschool where they had typing games. So i guess I learned from both places. I don't push one key at a time. I can't believe I know where all the letters are. If you didn't ask i would've never ask myself this question.
