By comparing the performance of the products offered by both company you could see that both have products that are better than one another in different category. If you are interested in getting a single core processor, I would suggest to get AMD64 processors over pentium 4 or centrino. AMD64 offers more juice for lower price, lower power consumption and generate less heat. But if you are interested to get high end processors with multiple core then Intel is the best choice. Intel Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Quad will own AMD Phenom processors everday. But with todays multicore trend i dont see AMD as a viable solution in the long term. I m sad to say that but AMD might be there in the next 5 years if they dont come up with any radical solution like AMD64 in the next coming year

Well, I prefer AMD. That's just a personal choice, because there's not much difference between Intel and AMD. They are both very good...
It just depends on your personal choice.

I have used Intel and AMD in the past and i personally think both of them are good enough to satisfy the needs of the customer.
AMD being little cheap compared to Intel has a upper hand when it comes to price to performance ratio.
But the issue is all of us upgrade our hardware in every two to three years and Intel has the best resell value so Intel scores there big time.
Take care.

Nice. rather go with Intel than AMD. for some reasons I dont know why. Maybe because of popularity. Its like Intel is for Democrats and AMD is for republicans. LoL

I'd definitely say Intel. But for the Price/Performance ratio I'd go to AMD. :)
