Roulette system

does anyone have a fairly decent system to increase chances of a win playing either online roulette or bookies roulette machines,
i know of the martin gale system but find it too slow and many times have busted out by a long run of the opposite colour
any help would be great guys?

I've heard that you need to keep doubling your bet until you hit. Obviously if you have a run of bad luck you could go through a lot of money before you regain all your spendings. After breaking even, and winning a bit, you put the winnings aside and keep going always doubling when you loose.
