Dear mylotters, one of my best friends just got a baby and i will go visit her next week. I just want to know if you give the baby money when you met her the first time? If you do, how much did you pay? i am wondering to give her 100 bucks, is it too much or too mean? Happy mylotting, my friend

i have never heard of this as well. i've never felt obligated to bring money for a friends new born baby. i have although boughtn a little present for the babies when i went to visit or for the baby shower

i would do one or the other. either a gift or money. personally if one of my friends tried to give me 100 dollars when they came to visit my daughter when she was born i wouldn't feel right excepting that much. seems like a lot to me. i wouldn't feel right taking it. i know you have your traditions, sounds like it's something you did in your home country but if you can't afford it i'd even go down to 50 dollars. to me that would be more than enough and a very lovely gift

I think it depends on the relationship. I will do 20 bucks for a normal friend and maybe 50 to 100 bucks for my best friend. But I also think a gift is more appropriate.
