Just announced by BBC TV in the UK, the new Doctor Who is Matt Smith...

The BBC today announced that Matt Smith has been cast in the role of the Doctor in the iconic BBC series Doctor Who. Smith will be the eleventh Time Lord and will take over from David Tennant who leaves the show at the end of 2009. He will be seen in the forthcoming fifth series that will be broadcast in 2010.

I suppose I will have to reserve judgment until I see him acting. However, he looks so young! I would have liked the new Doctor to look different than the previous one also. This Matt Smith looks similar to David. I guess I would have liked it if the rumor that it was going to be Patterson Joseph had been true.
All that being said, I wish this young man the best of luck with a very tough role and can't wait to see what he brings to it.

He's only been in a couple of things on UK TV and I watched neither of them so have no idea how he'll be as the doctor, although in the interview I could see why they chose him as he has an eccentric look and mannerism which could make him a good doctor.
It's always tough for a new doctor but I can't think of any doctor I haven't liked eventually.

I'd seen David Tennant in Casanova and a few scottish dramas from a few years back so knew who he was but this new guy is so new. We'll just have to wait and see.
