Yea, I guess. I mean I see a lot of kids that know a lot more than they usually should, they have a bigger IQ and are smarter than the average kid. They also learn a lot more faster than average kids, they might just study a lot and they already know everything they need to, so they are advancing up to the next level, like in some video games. Some video games you need a lot of smarts to complete the level and that what might the kids be doing. (I don't mean they are playing video games) They are probably just learning a lot faster and are advancing. Some kids might be really smart and they didn't have to do the 2nd or 3rd grade. (Not likely, aha.) That's what I think.

i have a five year old daughter, turning six this coming february, and i admit that she is a lot smarter than i am when i was her age. i learned my ABC at 4 but she did at 2. at present, she can now read and write in english, filipino and in our local dialect ilocano. she can even spell english words effortlessly. i no longer have to read fairy tales to her, she does the reading by herself. as far as i can remember, i learned to read at the age of 7 or 8. my daughter grew up with Barney, that's why i believe that educational toys and television can help in the early development of kids.

Yeas Daisy.I started going to school when I was five years old where I started learning my alphabets. But my daughter has been to the play school and learned them. Moreover the exposure and the media are playing a large part in improving their smartness. And may be the evolution of human race also may be a reason

Yes, kids are a lot smarter than we were at things like computers and other electronics, but most of them seem to lack common sense, haha.

I think I have it figured out. Way back when I was a kid, we were treated as such and was only exposed to a certain number of things at certain points in our childhood. Nowadays kids are treated like litte people and basically with nothing barred. I mean kids are now reading at the age of two. LOL Back then we were just starting to be read to! Back then computers were considered as office equipment and your first exposure was a typewriter(man that sounds antiquated) but now they have some version of a computer by age 2 or 3.

I think they are exposed to so much more than we were and at an earlier age too. There is just a world of things for them to learn. For the most part I think it is a good thing but there are those few that are smarter in technology but lack good old common sense sometimes.LOL

I think that children are exposed to a lot of things we weren't. Some of it good, some of it isn't so good. TV has a huge impact on them, I know as a child I had very limited time watching TV, and my children we also limited in it. Now it seems that kids watch any and everything. That does some interesting things for their vocabularies! Toy are often geared to teach in a fun way. Children are also exposed to a lot more people and social activities than in times past.
