Does anyone else have Great Danes ?

Welcome, Joan! I've had all sorts of dogs in my day, but I've never owned a Great Dane. I do like them, though, and since I like mostly big dogs, there's always a chance I might get one. I believe in taking in a rescue rather than purchasing a dog, so I never know what I might end up with. Since you're new here, let me offer you some great tips to get you going. I do like dogs as wel, I like the bigger dogs. My last dog was a lab/golden reteiver. She was a great dog I do miss her. I mite get another dog one day. I hate the clean up of them that is the only thing. My son wants a dog and a cat again. Well, you didn't take care of then I did so no he can't have one. Just me and right now I'm not ready. I need a better fence and money to take care of there shots and so on. You have a wonderful day. Hope to see more of you.

Hi Joan and welcome to Mylot. I just love your dogs!! Many years ago while living in Pennsylvania we lived in a row home and the neighbor had 3 Harliquin danes. It was the first time I had seen one up close and they just amazed me. Several years later I moved to Texas and had the opportunity to take in a dane that needed a home, even though the home I had was a small 2 bedroom house trailer. The danes are one of my favorite breeds. They have the greatest personalities and are good with kids, yet at the same time they make the best watch dogs. They don't have to be mean tempered as just their size makes people leary. I never understood what someone meant when they told me it takes a special person to own a dane until I had Brody. Brody crossed the bridge when he was just over 8 years old and that is when I realized that the larger the dog the shorter the life span, and that danes usually go from 6-8 years. I guess I must be special cuz even though it tore me apart when I lost Brody, I finally got another dane.

I am very much like dogs ,they too nice now , I would like a dog ,although I did not have it ,but I think I can get it ,because I love it ! pleased to meet you ,my friends .

Hi Joan! I have a Great Dane mix, and she is the best dog I have ever owned. She is my baby! Haha. She is a Great Dane mixed with German Shepherd, and she's absolutely gorgeous I think. She's that golden brown color with brown markings and short hair, and her ears stand up like a Shepherd's. She has this habit of picking up bumble bees off flowers and carrying them around in her mouth, and when they sting her, her mouth puffs up and we call her Scooby then.

I don't own a Great Dane, sadly, but I would really love to one day! I know a lot of people who have Great Danes, and they are really wonderful dogs! So once I have a bigger house and more room for a big dog like that, I would definitely want to get one!
