Hi all!
The biggest vampire movie to hit the screens worldwide is "Twilight." And word came out that Star Cinema -- a Philippine company -- is producing a Pinoy version and the movie will be entitled "Takipsilim."
The movie will be reportedly starred by Rayver Cruz and Shaina Magdayao. But Twilight fans are not very happy about it.
ABS-CBN and Star Cinema are vehemently denying that they are indeed producing such a film. Both Cruz and Magdayao also deny this project, if ever. The film company said that if ever they will do a version of Twilight, they will be the ones to release the information to the public.
But really, do we really need a version of Twilight? Why can't we bank on our own creative minds to make our own unique stories? Or is it because Filipinized Hollywood remakes are more patronized than original stories?
What do you think of these copies that we are making?

Oh this. This issue ended already. "Takipsilim" turned out to be a hoax, thank goodness.
I am not happy about these "copies".. It makes things repetitive or redundant. Nothing's ever fresh and exciting.

When the news broke out that ABS-CBN was adapting the book in Filipino, a lot of fans of the book series must have gotten really pissed. I am not a fan of remakes myself. I don't really get why local productions tend to make remakes or copycat productions of every Hollywood film that makes big bucks when there are a lot of skillfully creative writers here. I've stopped watching local TV network shows since it's usually the same recycled story.
