Would you remember the most spectacular event that you have seen or witnessed ? Something that left you wondering in amazement and awe and one that you remember till this very day. It could be the opening ceremony, a fireworks dispay, a rock show .....

This is a good post and how I wish to pen down something really spectacular to add to the thought! I have lived the life of the frog, that frog who lived in the well and his world is limited to that only! Having said this, I remember my school days when we used display some terrific acrobatic skills or some aerobics sequences with most perfect precision and finesse. It was a spectacular site and i can never outgrow that. Then, I remember once attending the annual function of my niece who was merely 4 year old then. She gave some outstanding performance together with a bunch of little angels. I guess, that would be the most spectacular event I saw live! I have been part of many rock concerts but none I found appealing. I thought those added to the sound pollution more than anything else. Fireworks on New year's Day in Sydney or NY city or even the recent Olympics - all are flawlessly spectacular but then those are just a televised version that I got to watch! Never the same, I guess.

Watching them on the TV is not same i do agree. Well i am much of frog in that way, having seen those few rock, fashion shows and the odd air show. Have always wanted to see something spectacular like arocket lift off or the olympics opening live. Aerobics Mimpi, I always did enjoy waching that . It is quite spell binding.

Aha. See all it needed was a little light bulb to pop and bring out the memory of the event Mimpi. A Water Ballet. Amazing , i would definitely want to see and experience one of those along with my olympic opening and space shuttle blast off. And one more , wishful thinking though :-is to see the earth from outer space.

Deepak's response there reminded me one event which I still remember as fascinating and wonderful. That was WATER BALLET event where the swimmers enacted Aladdin with utmost poise and gracefulness. It was unbelievable how they managed with the make ups and costumes- colorful, flashy and befitting to the sequence. Being a non swimmer it had left me dazed and amused for days and even now as I talk I am just stupefied at the transfiguration. Wow!

My most spectacular event has been watching the shuttle lift off from the Cape in Florida. I was fortunate enough to witness several lift offs when I lived there. It was also one of the saddest events too as I watched the Challenger lift off that resulted in disaster for us.

I will never forget the christmas party presentation where my nine-year old son, together with many other children smaller and bigger than him, interpreted a song entitled "we are the reason" by our local artist Gary Valenciano. They wore white gloves and in black light, they formed figures and letters using the song as the background. it was a very spectacular presentation, they received not just applauses but standing ovation!!! i'm soproud my child was a part of it.

Many years ago I remember having seen synchronised swimming by Russian swimmers in Delhi. They were all women and they would dance to the tune of songs in the water. It was an awesome experience, because I had not witness such a spectular show till that time. I am not sure, if synchronised swimming has become common now a days. The high point was that the swimmer, who were synchorinising swimming/diving with dancing also danced on the tunes of some bollywood songs.

I saw it in person in a stadium, which was having a open space for spectators and a huge swimming pool. Russian swimmmers were really very beautiful and dexterous in the art.
