I loved it when my mum read me stories when I was a child. Sometimes I liked to hear the same story again the next day. I liked stories about dolls and I listened very carefully. When I was a bit older I enjoyed listening to stories about horses. Did you like listening to stories when you were a child? If so which sort of stories did you listen to? If you have children do they like listening to stories? If yes which sort of stories do the enjoy listening to?

i like listening to stories. But my parents seldom read bedtime stories when I was young. But one thing i liked was my granny, she tells stories about her life and her past during the world war 2. I really enjoyed those :)

HahaMum & dad never read stories to us. Mum only taught us how to read & once we've got the hang of it, then we read on our own. Only once in a while when we didn't know how to read those words that we came back & ask her. Then later, once the dictionary was introduced, then her load became even lighter, hahaBut I liked grandma's stories, those were the coolest & the best

haha.. and we used to take the story books and read to them instead. In order to make sure our pronunciation and stuff like that are correct. Yeah, grandma's stories are always the best :)

Yes, I did. In fact, I still do. I just got Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol on audio book because I'm writing a story kind of like that. As a kid, I couldn't go to sleep until someone read me a story and my mom always would unless I'd been bad. I think I read Ramona read to me about 1 million times between the ages of 4 and 10.

I loved Cinderella and the Alice in Wonderland stories. My greatest thrill was watching Cinderella and later Snow White at the movies, and I was a Disney Fan. I started to learn to read when I was six, and I loved the Bobsey Twins. And we used to get Girls and Boys Annuals, but I did not like the Girls Annuals. The Boys Annuals were so much more exciting with danger, pirates, and that stuff. All the Girls Annuals could do was tell of girls gossiping and ruining someone's life at school.

My mom used to read to me all the time when I was little. In fact, she's the reason I love to read and write today. We would read everything together, even if it was just something silly in a magazine. I think it's important to read to your children and expose them to different types of literature, even at young ages. My favorite story when I was younger was THE BFG by Ronald Dahl. My mom and I would read a few chapters every night and it never got old no matter how many times we read it.

Love the bedtime stories especially since those were the only time my Mom had to read to us. We enjoyed Enid Blyton stories and devotional Bible stories, there was also a book of stories about incidents that happened to various boys and girls around the world, the name of the book escapes me now, but they each taught a lesson, like for instance, why we should listen when Mom call and why we should be kind and obedient.

I still remember the days when my mother used to tell stories about anything. I loved hearing stories like monkey and the turtle and also ali baba. I don't know if you heard about these. Also, fairy tales were the best that i've heard. Because of happy ending stories that i heard, my life went on with a positive attitude that someday i'll have a happy ending.

I still like listenng to stories. My dad used to read to me every night before bed and I contiued that with my girls. I got as much enjoyment reding to them as I did from my dad reading to me. Reading to your children helps develo a close bond and encourages a love of reading.

I don't really remember if I was read stories. I know I was by my grandmother when we were with her, but I can't remember anything else about it. My sister and I both started reading when we were three, so we would usually just read the stories ourselves, instead of having one of my parents do it.

Hi maximax8! I do love listening to stories when I was a child and until now, I love listening to stories. I also love reading stories when I was a child but do prefer it when it is being told by my mother or my grandmother. I love stories about the mythical beings living in the mountains in our country. I guess, I love fairies and princesses too. Take care always. lovelots..faith210

I like listening to them a lot more now that I am older. When I was a child, I suppose it didn't happen so often, and when it did, I was eager to read on my own, at my own pace.

Hello maximax8! I love listening to stories. My mom used to tell us stories when I was young. I just realized today that all the stories that she told me had lessons on it. One of my favorite stories that my mom used to tell is Hansel and Gretel.

When I was a child I prefer to read stories by myself. Maybe I liked to listen stories from my mom when I was a baby. However, there are not so much memories in my mind about listening to the stories from mom.

Oh, you have taken me back to the days when I was just four-five years' old. Till the age of ten or eleven I used to love listening to stories and songs my mother used to narrate and sing sleeping beside me during bedtime. The stories were mostly fairy tales or folk tales from "Panchtantra" and the songs were soft lullabies mostly in Hindi. Even now once in a while I tend to snuggle up and put my head in her lap and urge her to sing. Its bliss. Thanks for this heartwarming post maximax.

Absolutely. My parents often read me a story, before going to bed, when I was a kid. I loved it when they would do that. They would read all sorts of children' books. The ones that I remember most are the Robert Munch' children' books. What can I say? I loved it when they would read a story to me. Now, it's become a habit, if you will. I often read a book or something before going to bed.

I loved listening to stories when I was a child. My mom or my aunt would read to me all the time when I was a kid. My favorite stories were the Three Little Pigs, Little Red Riding Hood, and the Little Red Hen. Now that I am an adult, I often read aloud to myself, because it makes the stories I read more enjoyable.

Yes I enjoyed my childhood days whenever my great grandmother tells stories about their lives. Those were the stories I enjoyed the most. I was with my mother's grandma from 2 years old to 16. I should still be with her now that I am 22 if she is still alive. Sadly, she passed away last May 2002 and I still miss her until now that I am married. I still believe that she helps me to become successful and happy in almost all the stages of my life. She told me stories about ghosts and other unbelievable and supernatural creatures which according to her were true during her childhood days. If I am not mistaken my great grandma was born May 24, 1924 and during those years rumors about ghosts were true. That could be the reason why I love horror movies and I am fond of stories about legends. She also told be some fables, parables and other native stories from our province. I will do the same with my 3-month old son as he grows in order for him to know a lot of things.

The most special time that I spend with my daughter is when I read to her. I try to do it at least once a day. There is something so peaceful and bonding about that time together and we both love the stories.
