Internet marketing guides - ProfitLance or Wealthy Affilliate?

Well folks, I have been trying hard to see if I could get to grips with even the basics of internet marketing. I could see a lot of items on this site about PPC or pay to click and about paid review, paid surveys, paid email reading, paid reviews etcetera etcetera. The more I looked the more sad I found the whole scene. SO many people out there trying to do the same, many apparently prepared to try to earn a few dollars for what must represent hours and hours and hours of work on myLot, others claiming to be earning by writing reviews .... and so on. Some of them apparently genuine and possibly earning just about enough to help them to top up a basic income, and some claiming big rewards for whatever scheme they are trying to market. I researched around on the net and finally found a program I really liked the look of. It was ProfitLance. I joined it. And no I am NOT adding a link to it or trying to market it to you. Was it a scam? Try looking it up on the net. You will find so many VERY CONVINCING review type articles that would seem to suggest it is the genuine item and yet .... many of them start off with a scam based title to attract your interest and then proceed to sell you the very same item. I realise now (slow that I am) that this is yet another approach adopted by those who want to sell their product. I bought the product. I am not yet sure whether soundly or whether time will prove it to be not so useful. Yes, it LOOKS good. Yes, it DOES have a lot of information in it. But then, as I look into it more, I find areas that are suspect, to me. Perhaps because I am quite critical. Perhaps because I am suspicious. Then eventually by searching more on the net I come across discussion sites where there are long discussions between affiliates on the pros and cons of ProfitLance as opposed to Wealthy Affiliate, many or most of which were pushing Wealthy Affiliate, mainly because it has a better support network. Downside is that it is a monthly subscription system where Profitlance is a one off payment.
So, I wonder if anyone on this site has experience of either of these two systems? They are BOTH clearly good sources of information. I have to admit to being impressed by the initial clarity of the ProfitLance course system. But the downside is that it does not cover some things that I think one needs at the end of the day. And whilst it provides a series of projects for you to do so that you understand the system better, when you evaluate these you realise that the whole site has been set up in such a way that by doing these exercises one is actually just acting as an unpaid pimp to push their products, as much work is taken out of the nitty gritty for you with ready made sections that actually market their wares.
Now I have some other concerns, which I will discuss in more detail if anyone is interested. Are you? or not?
