small cute purse or functional bag?

I just switched from a functional, bag to a cute "purse" - I THINK it's a purse because I've never used anything this small before. It's a leather Vans bag that I got from my mom, something she'd been telling me to use because it fits me well.
I had to let go a lot of my things - like camera cables, camera charger, mp3 player, earphone set for my Nokia phone (which is different from the earphone set for my mP3 player), mouth wash (I have toothbrush and toothpaste in the office anyway).
So which would you prefer, the cute but more constricting bag - or the fully functional, rambo bag that can probably fit a dog?

As much as I am crazy about cute stuff, I would have to say that I would still prefer a functional bag over a cute purse. I prefer a functional black bag that would go with most of my daily outfits as I particularly don't enjoy transferring all my stuff from one bag to another. another reason as to why I would prefer a functional bag is that I would hate for my cute purse to get all dirty with use LOL

I always known to have a big purse in our office! lOL! I always love to put anything inside and I want to be comfortable while walking and not to bring anything in my other hand! SO, I never bought a cute purse ever and I always receive from friends! LOL!
Even in parties, my friends know that they can put their phones in my purse! LOL![/i]
