Elder Bush: Jeb Should Run for President

United States
January 4, 2009 7:41pm CST
A third Bush in the White House??? Do you think this would be at all possible? Perhaps it will be called the Greenhouse to accomodate all the bushes!! Former President George H.W. Bush said on Sunday he'd like to see his second son, Jeb, become president of the United States some day. Interviewed on "Fox News Sunday," Bush said his second son, a former governor of Florida, had all the qualifications to serve in the White House. Jeb Bush, 55, has said he was considering running for a U.S. Senate seat representing Florida in 2010. The current incumbent, Republican Mel Martinez, has announced he is stepping down. "I'd like to see him run. I'd like to see him be president one day, or senator, whatever, yes I would," said Bush, who served as president from 1989-1993. http://www.newsmax.com/insidecover/jeb_bush_president/2009/01/04/167589.html?s=al&promo_code=76DD-1

Amen, to you sister! I feel the exact same way. We don't need another 4-8 years of Bush Syndrome. Two was more than enough. It's time for some new blood to change things around and get us on the right track.

A few years ago, I was fully expecting Jeb to be running for president in 2008.

Haven't we had enough Bushes in the White House? Have we not learned our lesson. We will proably have just gotten the mess this Bush made cleaned up and then the other one will decide to run! I certainly hope that Jeb stays in Florida! I realize that the Bush family has become accustomed to dinners in the White House residence, I think they need to get used to some barbecues on the ranch.

Al Gore, Ted Kennedy, George H. Bush, and George W. Bush all have in common that each is living breathing proof that nepotism weakens the nation. Jeb Bush for President? I hope not.

I would not mind. If he is a good leader and makes good decisions, he would make a good president. I think years from now, people will consider that George W. Bush was not bad at all and that he was quite good. He did stop America from being attacked on the home front by terrorists after 911. I do think that the reason why the Republicans failed was that they were too moderate. The best Republican in modern times was Reagan. Trying to be more like democrats does not make for good republicans. I would think he should wait a few years to throw his hat in the ring. Now is not the time.

Personally I don't think it is a good idea, nor do I think he could ever get the Republican nomination. Even if he did, I don't think he would stand a chance in Hades of actually winning. I'd be curious to see what Jeb himself would say. After seeing how his brother was treated, if I were him I'd run for the hills before running! lol

Jeb Bush was a great governor. He did a great job in dealing with the many hurricanes that hit Florida in his years here. His approval rating when he left as governor was very high. I think he should run.

Well who says he won't do a good job, but I bet, even if he wins the nomination he won't win the presidency...simply on the fact that he is third in line. Won't have a single thing to do with if he is qualified...just third in line and people will just think that is to odd.

It is unfortunate how the stars have aligned for Jeb. As a citizen of FL during his tenure, I can tell you that he has the skills and abilities to be a better president than his brother and his father. He is a leader and a well spoken individual. He has a way of setting the vision, inspiring confidence and seeing his vision through. He would be a very strong candidate if his name was anything other than Bush.

What??? Another Bush? Are we not fed up of BUSH for 2 times? For me one Bush was all enough and we didn't like him here in the Philippines. Our president supported the Anti Terror coalition that was a huge hoax. Now if Jeb Bush becomes the next US president, my question are where will he smash off the missiles? Whose next in-line to be accused of harboring THE WEAPON OF MASS DESTRUCTION? "Time is now", George Bush said in the global TV...yeah right TIME IS NOW FOR THE BUSHES TO SHUT UP. The Bushes are generations of War Freaks(Old Bush for the GULF WAR while George Bush for the IRAQ WAR...bring war instead of peace. So you think Bush is not a racist? Not just a war freak I think. Next war stop, hmmmm I think that will be China. The sabotage seem to be clear perhaps melamine was just an accident? - or shall we say sabotage? No Bush, no terror, no hunger, no WAR!

It wouldn't surprise me, but I doubt it will happen. He might throw his hat in the ring but he'll probably get out of the race quickly in the prelims. The mood against the current Bush administration would have to change significantly for another Bush to make it into the White House or even get the nomination to run for the Republicans. This has been mentioned before by the senior Bush. I can see Jeb ending up being a Senator for Florida. He seems to be quite popular there. But a presidential bit will most likely end fairly early and would more be an embarrassment. Then again, stranger things have happened. It all depends on how the current president is viewed eight years or more down the road.

I don't think that there is any doubt that he will try to run, but his family problems will keep him from the office. His daughter is a mess, and she should be in jail for the rest of her life, but when your dad is the govenor, things happen. Jeb also had ties to the S & L scandel in the late 80's (which he got bailed out by the US taxpayers). He has the family look, and from what I have seen, the same intellect of his brother. I think the American people have learned from their past Bush mistakes.

Well he will have a hard time running for any office thanks to his brother. He will really have to step out of his older brothers shadow and show he is NOT like President Bush in order for people to consider him. It really must suck for him....not only is his older brother the president of the US but the president will the lowest approval ratings in history. I half way feel sorry for him. Whose to say he is like his brother. Me and sister are nothing alike even our political views are complete different.
