who would you save?

There are many people around that always ask this question
'if your mother and girlfriend were to drop into the deep sea, and you can only save one, who would you save?'
i have been thinking about this question for sometime and i came out with a answer.
this is quite similar to 'if i want you to cut off your hands and legs, which one will you cut off first?'
what do you think about this and how will you answer the first question?

Who ever said that there are no dumb questions is wrong. These types of questions don't deserve an answer- if you were a bright person, you would not be asking these type of nonsensical questions.

this is the question girl always ask boy before marriage and want them to do choice. Normally boy do not know how to reply to satisfy girl. I think if you are a smart girl, you should not ask such question.
The oldest answer is: to save monther first, but remember before saving your mother, come to kiss your girl friend.
Second: to be more practical, to save who is the closest to you.
Third: smart answer---tell your girl friend"I will save you first". because it's just say in oral.Anyway, to have the situation that 2 drop into the deep sea is almost impossible,right?
